Who is doing some "spring cleaning" on their 968?
#1

i know the snows are still fresh in our minds, and it's even raining here on and off, but with all the stuff i'm doing and the calendar constantly reminding me that spring is just around the corner, i was wondering who else is doing what, and what plans people had for enjoying their 968 this season?

First up on the to do list, wheel bearings. Then suspension overhaul, going with KW coilovers. That stuff should be done this spring. By the end of the year, I plan on having the turbo conversion done(considering darton sleeves), after the suspension, will be the transmission. Changing gear ratios, and adding a guards tq biasing dif. Last but not least, the hood scoops, front splitter, and rear wing, and some paint touching up. Cosmetics may end up being 2011. Im findng progress moves slower overall when you have a 951(with a 3.0 turbo), and a 968. LOL

I hope to mount 18" speedlines, but first I have to find a set I like and can afford.

Just some "Standard Maintenance" (shhh...anyone who sees Melva at Hershey)

It appears that Pete has discovered that my Differential is "open" and needs to be changed...I have no idea what that means but if Pete says it has to be done, then it has to be done. These thing just happen when you own a Porsche.

Open is not a good sign. It could fall out at anytime risking life or limb...

My head gasket was leaking oil (very little) from the rear most oil port. That and a lot of detail cleaning under the hood is keeping me out of trouble.

Well, the car got clipped in a parking lot last month, so I have a front fender that needs some work. The alternator failed as I was driving home one night a couple of weeks ago, fortunately we were between rainstorms. About two weeks before the alternator failed the water pump failed so I installed a new one. Now I'm just watching the radiator as it appears that we have a small seep.

The car is a daily driver so with all of the rain we have been receiving it hasn't been washed in a while, something it badly needs as the car's color has transformed from Midnight Blue to Road Grime Gray.

I should be spiffed up in time for the Paso run although I may not have the body work done by then. Too much work and school, no car time allowed!!

My beauty has some kind of electrical thing going on I may only need a new battery, or it could be more complitcated I have to take it to Huntington Porsche and have them check it out before leaving for Hershey. Other then that I really want to get the tops of my door panels died as they look terrible. There is a dark stain that cannot be cleaned along the inside of the panel by the rubber seal for the window. I was thinking of buying used door panels but they seem to show more wear then mine do. Oh I need a paint job but I am not getting that this year Enjoy the ride!

I am replacing all the black trim on the dash and center console, including the gauge surround. I am doing this because when the sun shines on this trim I can see that it has become a dark shade of brown rather than the mat back it should be. The other reason is that the sponge on the back of the demister flap disintegrated and it rattles, this is enough to drive me crazy!

The CS will be polished and waxed this weekend, has got an oil & filters change and preventive change of the heating valve last week and will get an suspension upgrade within the next two months. And maybe a new exhaust. And new Schroth belt harness next week.

The Coupe is in desperate need of a wash&wax and will get an oil change in very near future.

Last weekend I did an oil & filter change, changed the front brake pads (it took less time than the oil change), Wash and wax (all the winter accumulation), and cleaned the contacts in the window switches that were not working all the time. I was surprised at how easy this was. The switches care removed by two screws on the door panel, unplug the wires, release clips that hold them in the bracket, take off the rocker cover, cleaned the contacts, put lube on the roller balls, carefully reassembled and they work perfectly now. I'll do the passeger side sometime before it starts acting up and clean the K&N air filter. I also drove and enjoyed the car - they are great to drive and you have to try it out after each thing is fixed or maintained.

Cheers,

I've got M030 sways on the way along with the 2 front strut braces. I just removed my back seat and put in B-Quiet. Also just ordered the rear seat delete carpet. I can hardly wait to get on the road in the next few weeks.
