What Wheels Make the 968 Look Modern?
#1

I was just looking at the great foto of Flash's 968 on the beach and ones eyes are attracted immediately to the wheels (the rest of the car is super too). What make/style wheels are those? They make the car look really modern. What other wheels really look good on a 968? I thought the stock wheels looked good 'till I started looking at some of what you guys are putting on your cars.

Harvey,

I think that the Boxster S 17" wheels look great on the 968. My dad and I both have them on our cars, and the wheels complement the cars quite well. Personally, I think the 968 looks quite modern even with the factory wheels, but you are right, some wheels make the 968 look even more up-to-date.

P.S.--Good news! The heavily modified 951 is now back on the road! It was a faulty TPS that was causing all the trouble. I'm so glad that the "Red Rocket" is now able to leave the launch pad whenever I give her the "T minus and counting" ceremony.

I'm going to have to put in a second vote for Sport Classic IIs. I am a bit partial to how light those new Carrera five spokes are. (like 17-19# or something 18")

17's definitely improve the "Stance" and probably do something for handling. The Boxster twists that came on my Cab were one reason I went for this car.

to answer the first part of harvey's question, they are HRE 547R - 18x10 rear with a 52mm offset and 18x9 front with a 57mm offset - they are shod with Bridgestone S0-3 (285-30 rear, and 255-35 front)

i like the sport classic II on white cars, but i think it's too busy on a dark car - you may well find that you see the same kind of thing - a dark car seems to look best with a less busy wheel, but a lighter car, particularly in a solid color, benefits from something like that to spice it up

I'm thinking the teardrop wheels ( lambos, bmws ) might work nicely with the 968 lines ? - wish I could superimpose a photo of those on our car's photo and see the results.. sigh, no technical know-how to do that..

My car came with the 993 Cup 2 wheels. Great wheels, but I prefer the 964 C2 Turbo "flat spoke" wheel.

I got my set from Wheel Enhancements. I also had WE paint the wheels Guards Red (to match my 968), with multi-color crests.

I'll try to attach a pic.
