What a great car
#1

I've been really busy with a lot of non-car things. Actually been spending a lot of time on the bike these days, which eats into the free time. To compensate I've been driving the 968 more. To work, on errands. The car's now got enough miles on it and a couple of dings so that it's concours days are over (not that it ever entered but you get my point). She's now firmly in the territory of a well sorted driver.

And I must share that man I love this car. It does damned near everything well. Carving canyon twisties, 4-banger howls off the line, shooting gaps in traffic. Nothing like it gents - drive on !!!

Enjoy while you can Photo says it all - empty beach, sun low in the sky, blustery wind. There's 5 months of "rough-sleddin" coming to the north country.

rxter, your observations are precisely the reason why mine is a daily driver as opposed to one that is only occasionally driven.

Mine's a DD too. I've had a bunch of 944 variants, and I just can't seem to stay away from them. I really dig this car. My wife drives the 330 now.

Nice pic. The beach background harmonizes with the "love affair" post.

Really? You beat up on an E46 M3? Those were about 330/260 as I recall. Maybe a bit heavier? I'd have guessed that car would stomp us. Your secret is ??

They can leave us behind off the line ( at least "on paper" and depending on which reviews you read they're anywhere form 1/2 sec,

to 8/10 of a sec. faster 0-60 , and from same in the Q-mile.. ) but at higher speeds, flat out, my 968 will keep up neck in neck ( and have done that on a couple of occasions ) with the E46 M3s. And I can edge slightly ahead of the cab version, again, once you hit triple digit highway runs, and starting form as low of a point as 70mph.. Btw, my engine is not supercharged. The X-chip, air box mod, free flow catback, and about 50 -75 lbs lighter than stock.. that's all.

There is a post a while back where Flash explains the reasons for that top end equality, not sure if it was simply aerodynamics, power to weight ratio, gearing or a combination of the three, but I'm sure he'll chime in..

Weather turned nice again today, so I just had to get a "day permit" and go for a drive.

Went in the PM for a 200+ mile drive with the wife. We crossed the border into WA and drove up to Mount Baker first.

Along the way I thought of this topic because the car was just pulling so strong up the winding mountain roads.

The low end grunt is just an adrenaline rush!

Here is what the "lower" elevation had to offer that day...

the fall colors were just amazing...

Had an amazing urge to "burn out" and see those leaves fly, but... wisdom prevailed (the wife was in the car!).

Anyone ever put together a 968 calendar? With 12 photos of this quality displaying the various flavors of the series, who wouldn't be proud to hang it on the wall...........
