starting to love the car all over again
#1

last weekend i never really got a chance to run the car hard and see what she could do - when we left my house, i had a brief moment, but had to back out of it when it dawned on me that the thing was dead cold and redlining it was not a good idea - after all, it was 5:30 in the morning and i didn't even let it idle at my house for fear of waking the neighbors - i was consequently short-shifting and not really giving her all she had - after that it was a pretty sedate cruise all the way there and back

i had been driving the denali earlier today, as it was time for an oil change and drove it to and from the dealer

later in the day however, i had to run a couple of errands, and decided to take the 968 - i took off from the left turn lane of a light, turned the corner, and decided to stand on it to get around a slow poke car turning in front of me - i was stuffed into the seat as the car hurtled forward - an unavoidable involuntary grin spread across my face as i shifted quickly into second and blasted past 60 - all of this happened in a very few seconds, and was all as i was going UPHILL - i was nothing short of stunned

on the way back home, i played around some more, just in case i was merely feeling the difference between the 968 and the denali - nope - this thing is quick

i think i need to take her out and do some timed runs tomorrow - i am expecting some very nice numbers

it's fun to fall in love with your car all over again

It ought to be quick, Flash, it only weighs about 1000 pounds soaking wet.

lol - it's not that light - i haven't weighed it, but based on the math, factoring in what i removed, and starting from published numbers, i'm guessing a bit over 3000# - i have a lot of stuff in there now (stereo, chassis brace, yada yada) - it could be about the same as a stock hardtop
