there's still the possibility my scales aren't accurate. I've been thinking I need a more accurate set, so maybe now's a good time. Or maybe I'll just check them with something of known weight, like a 10 gallon bucket of water. stay tuned ...
Good point on the 993 in listed weights. Perhaps the 968 wheels in my list are Cup-I. I've heard these are heavier - does anyone know weights for them?

I have a set of factory option M398 "Cup 93" Design wheels in the garage with nothing but factory finish and a little bit of brake dust on them . Part numbers 993 362 128 00 and 993 362 124 05
With a bathroom scale that reads exactly 25 pounds with a 25 pound cast barbell the fronts weigh in at 19 pounds and the rears at 21 pounds.
I will take them to UPS next week and weigh on their scales.

OK I might be flogging a dead horse, but I loaded my scales (spring balance) with 10 litres of water in a 0.5kg bucket and it the registered spot on 10.5kg. So I'm happy they're quite accurate and for now I'm still convinced the "Cup-II" wheels (as pictured earlier in this thread and option M398) weigh 20 lbs & 23 lbs front /rear. But for completeness next time I have the tyres off the wheels I will double check.
For the heck of it I did weigh one front wheel fitted with a brand new Bridgetsone RE-55S 235/45R17 tyre and it was 22kg (48.5lbs). Unfortunately I couldn't find weight of tyre on the net, but if I knew that I could deduce and double check the front wheel weight.

This is all very confusing.
I have had a set of 993 "Cup II" wheels and the original Cup II's that came with my 968 from the factory. The rears are the same part number. Only the front wheels are different (width). The chart above ignores the "Cup I" style was used on 964s, 968s, & 928s, and Turbo. And that style, like the Cup IIs also appears to have been offered sized in 16 and 17 inch according to sales lit that I have seen. The chart does not show a 964 wheel? The base Cup II offered on the early 993s where 16s. So there seems to be many variations and ???
