I was wondering wat the weight of the gearbox is .
I will be taking it out end of the week , and don't want to find out that it is to heavy to carry on my own .
I have a car lift and some device to keep it in place when i am taking all the bits and pieces off , but at the end i do have to carry it , and put it in the trunk ofmy car .
So maybe i should get a friend out here to help me lift the geabox ?
Thanks

given that it's a transaxle and not just a transmission, i have to think it's nearly 200#

Found it on the net , should be 175#

With no disrespect to the manliness of the men in Biddinghuizen, I think you'll need a friend. And be really careful driving with it in the trunk. In the event of an accident, that thing will be a really, really big missile.

I will strap it down good for the autobahn ride , to bad it is not in the porsche .
And i'll give my farmer friend a call , he has the right size arms for the job .
Reason i asked is because it happend to me before , al of a sudden the transmission is loose and you find out it's kind of heavy , but dropping it would not be a good thing!!!!!
Also size is not always an indication off weight , last one i had i my hands was a 55chevy transmission with overdrive unit wich looked kind of small and not that heavy , we lets say gravity was really pulling on it .

it's a very awkward difficult dead weight. lots of things to bugger up too, as well as hurt you. dead lifting into a trunk will not be fun on the back either.
be careful

Yep i know , no risk with my back , i got operated on it once now (think it's called a herniated disk ) , they refused to operate for years because it was a very difficult place to reach with a 50/50 outcome , not very good .
But glad i did , it's been 3 years since , result is riding rally's on my KTM (baja kind of racing ) and in june my second marathon , but don.t want to take a risk with lifting heavy stuff like this .
