Has anyone ever located and purchased a waterproof tonneau cover? I have the coverking cover, and it's not waterproof. I went into a restaurant the other night (no rain in the forcast) and came out to the sky opening up! Frigging biblical proportions of lightning and rain!!!! Well, the coverking did it's best, but was no match for mother nature. I spent the weekend vacuuming as much water as I could out of my car. UGH! Please tell me someone knows where you can get a waterproof tonneau???

Not sure you can buy a waterproof Tonneau cover but why not waterproof it yourself. Use the 303 treatment, like you would with your soft top, and it should work. Just make sure it's very clean before. The 303 has an excellent combo of cleaning and sealing kit that I have used.

 

PS: No top down when it looks like rain!!

303? Like the uv protectant thats so great for leather and vinyl? I believe it's water soluble. I know I have to re-apply it after a dewy (sp) night. Maybe a waterproofing agent? I mean I have a waterproof cover for my Jeep Wrangler and it keeps it bone dry with the top down. Maybe I should buy another one of them, and have at it with a sewing machine?

Used 303 on my top 2 years ago. Complete wash and dry. then waterproof spray. Not a leak through two winters of rain. Works for me.

i have never had the canvas of any top ever leak.  it was always the seals.  canvas like this, by its very nature, is waterproof, as long as you don't touch it.

 

i'm not a fan of putting anything on the top.  it tends to cause uneven discoloration over time.

 

the top design on this car has always been a gripe of mine.  if you use the boot cover, as you should, it's a royal pain to put the top up and down.  i shot a video very early on, showing the process, and how long it took.  even a $10k mustang had a better design.

 

unfortunately, there really is no better solution out there.  any tonneau will have sags, which will cause puddling, which will ultimately dump into the interior.  i even designed and had made a full zip up tonneau cover, but it would have the same issues.

 

this is exactly why i had a zip out rear window installed, and gave up on having the top down most of the time.  ultimately it forced me to buy the targa.  man, i sure miss that car.

Yes, that's the reason I didn't put the top up. Boot in place, no forcast of rain, just cover the inside to keep leaves and pine needles out. Seriously, I literally had 5-10 gallons of water in the wrangler cover this morning. Not a drop inside! At least until I got in and pushed the sagging cover up. Of course I got some inside... but not 5 gallons! Errrr!
