#1

picked up a used valve cover (too cheap to pass up) and it's missing both threaded stand-offs behind the "Varo Cam" badge. how can i replace them?

didn't see them in the PET. guessing you've got a part number (and its not another D1R custom)? nomenclature?

thanks - this site rocks - never a question unanswered...

found it, pn 999.703.388.00

$11 from Sunset vs $40 from Pelican. what a deal.

Both of mine are broken, been meaning to deal with them. I can tell you Epoxy or JBWeld doesn't fix broken ones. Thanks for the part numbers, I'll put it on my list..

Stuck mine back on with black silicon adhesive. Works fine.
Dab onto the black rubber end and let the valve cover bolts keep it in place. engine heat and time set the adhesive.

Checked that part at pelican and it does not refer to the correct part.

Flash, the part screws through the cover and the varicam plate, but it then glues to the head, not screws in on my car. Is there a threaded piece under my glue that I have not seen?

The part is a "sandwich" with the rubber being the meat. The bottom side has the stud that screws into the cover, and the top side has the female threads. These are glued to both sides of the rubber. When you try to remove it, the rubber will torque off of the bottom stud leaving it in the cover. That's what you're seeing. Get some vise grips on the metal plate and you'll be able to get it out of the cover.
