UPDATE ON FLASH'S EXHAUST?
#21

Quote:(and you should have seen what it was before it was edited by the moderator)

All that was removed from my post was the contact information for Scott M in case anyone wanted to get in touch to make their car available and hurry the exhaust manufacturing process.

If you want to know the truth call Scott M and ask him. I have posted the truth as I understand from our conversations. However who knows what will happen if Flash has followed his normal pattern and threatened to sue him.

there you go again

scott is extremely upset that you posted his contact info - so much so that he is now setting his phones up to forward elsewhere

your "understanding" of the conversations and "truth", is erroneous - this would be evident to anyone, as i am the one he is working with now, and in the future, and you are the one whose order was cancelled, and from whom he would rather not hear

i have no issues with scott, nor does he have any with me - the synergy is great, and we will continue to work together

litigation is not a "normal" pattern for me - it will be used as a last resort - people should also note that your job is in litigation, so you should take a close look at those glass walls of yours before taking shots at me

Just unbelieveable...

I've followed several forums over the years and rarely have I seen so much flack towards someone that has the dediction to develope a new design. Chances are something beneficial will come of the effort, but in the mean time there seems to be a lack patience.

I worked in aerospace for many years and I know that it can take a long time to develope a product. From design, fab, test, re-fab, test, qualify and finally producing a usable product. If there are some delays, so what, go buy something else.

I wish I had the time that Bob does to sit down and design something...
i am probably going to skip the intermediate single exhaust step altogether, and go straight to dual exhaust - i was only going to do the single as a stop gap until i decide to repaint the rear bumper cover again, when i would ultimately go dual anyway.
What's the logic behind a dual exhaust on this engine configuration. I wouuld think it offers no gain and just adds weight which given your cars anorexic tendencies strikes me as odd.

mark - lol - yup - no performance gains whatsoever - strictly an aesthetics thing for me on that one - departing from my norm there for sure

funny stuff

you have to remember that this car could have been a fiat and i still would have bought it - i was not looking for a porsche, and frankly that would have been the last brand i would have considered - i was looking for a 2 seat, convertable, front engine rear drive car (read as "sports car") - my mgb could not handle los angeles traffic, and it had no air conditioning - when i remembered this one, i said to myself "yup - there's a car i can tear apart and build the way i want"

so yeah, the dual exhaust thing is not for performance, but just to balance the look at the rear - won't happen though if it costs me power

ain't i just full of surprises?

Hey Flash,

"full speed ahead and damn the torpedos"

What I really mean is, please continue to move forward and inspire the readers of this forum to continue to enjoy our cars! Ignore the negative element on thus forum. They are just caught up in their own world wherein they feel compelled to bust the balls of the people who rise above the norm and get their attention.

IMHO if there is an reason to have a moderated forum, it would be to block those who add negativity and harassment to what is ordinarily just a bunch of well meaning people who share in a common love of their 968's.

Hey Negative Members...If you want to be a jerk and screw it up for the rest of us, and the moderators don't shut you up, why don't you do us all a favor and log out!

Hey Everyone Else...There seems to be a lot of crap being pushed in Flash's direction. I have been on many forums and this is the best! It is the most helpful. Anything or anyone that hurts that should be kicked off instead of being allowed to throw verbal barbs at ANY of our members, especially one of our most sharing members.

When I first logged onto this forum, all of my questions were answered by FLASH as well as many other, helpful, positive people. I never got a dig or a reply that made me feel stupid or unwelcome. When I was involved in complex problems on my 968, FLASH as well as others took the time to call me on the phone and PM me with advise and help!

DO NOT LET SOME MEMBERS SCREW UP THE VIBE OF THIS FORUM.

If you don't like what's going on, get the hell off of my forum...I like it just the way it is!

Same stuff as yesterday. Your comment were absolutley right on the money.

Member bashing and engaging in back- and -forth -challenge banter. Imature crap!

I am starting to feel that FLASH may go home and take his ball with him. I think that that would not serve the forum well and want some of our members to mellow out.

This is a FREE exchange of ideas and I don't need to read through a soap opera script when I log in to read about interesting posts on the site.

I just want to read about cool stuff about our 968's.

In spite of having had an absolute blast with this car since I installed my BB catback, and finding it to be outstanding and to my liking in every other respect

( except one, which follows.. ) I will change to whatever Flash comes up with in terms of a dual exhaust for two reasons: IMO, aestethically it will be a HUGE improvement, completing the looks of the 968 as a true sports car. Secondly,

I know that Flash's resulting system will be uncompromising, so I am confident

it will not just improve the looks of the car if it's at the expense of performance

or sound.

BTW, I doubt Flash is one to be intimidated by those few that continuously

put up cynical posts, for lack of having anything better to do. So I think it's unlikely he'll " take his ball and go home " anytime soon. .. besides, there are plenty of us who will probably pay him a visit and drag him and his ( or by his ? ) ball back to the forum.. if he does that.

It is highly unlikely that a dual would not hurt performance even if just by weight alone. 4 cylinders should not have dual exhausts. If there was decent single exhaust for my S2000 that did not sound like a fart can or just plain unbearably loud I would switch in a hearbeat and figure out how to cover up the second hole later. While it looks nice and balanced it is a waste on a 4.

well, that all comes down to how you do it - if you run duals with only 2 cylinders per pipe, sure you will have a problem - if you run large duals, same kind of problem

the key is to match the net velocity and volume, so as not to screw things up - that is where the current aftermarket design falls down, leaving an anomoly in the curve - there may or may not be a solution to that - it may not be worth it - i'd like to see a flat curve, but it may or may not be curable - film at 11

twin 1.75 pipes are what is in there now in stock configuration - they then remerge it to one muffler - changing from one muffler to 2, given that one chooses the same net resistance mufflers, should not affect the output

this car is very odd in the way it handles exhaust - we'll see how it works out, but i am pretty sure that duals, done right, will be fine, and in fact, may add a bit of low end torque
...I am starting to feel that FLASH may go home and take his ball with him...
Silvy I can't tell if your post (and the others decrying 'negativity) are directed at me. If that's the case, I have to point out that the reason I posted as I did earlier was that in essence, Flash had recently said he planned to go home and take his ball with him in anticipation of possible negative reaction. As someone who's been waiting for Flash's work on this for some time, this came as a real disappointment, and I thought the issue needed airing.

Go back and read my post: I think you'll see I put myself in the camp of those who try not to jump on Flash and his work. But this isn't a cult, and there should be room for reasoned discussion.

I dunno: maybe you weren't attacking me at all. This thread is now pretty convoluted and it's hard to tell who's talking to who. But no matter who you were addressing, "Hey Negative Members...If you want to be a jerk and screw it up for the rest of us, and the moderators don't shut you up, why don't you do us all a favor and log out!" doesn't make a positive contribution to the tone of this discussion.

Thanks for your time....

I simply want the forum to be a place for discussion and information. It seems that some members take some of these posts way to serious and set the negative tone. If my post has added to that I apologize.

john - yes, dual would mean reworking the bumper cover - no big deal - been planning that all along - it would be doing the same kind of thing i did to the front bumper cover

this was N-O-T! intended to be a shot at you in the least. my frustration was with bruce for trying to undermine flash's efforts.

his original post hit me indirectly in a very, very sensitive spot.

creative people are weird individuals. life is a little lonely outside of the box. i felt that i had to say something, being a fellow weirdo creative type.

please take no offense from me. i also bought an exhaust from another source because i was impatient. it's not flash's exhaust that got me bothered, but the thought that a guy could work on something for so long and then just have it taken away from him. that was my beef.

i'm only a fraction of the mechanic that most of you are and appreciate this forum more than i could ever say. my apologies if i've started any kind of firestorm. i felt strongly that someone had to say something about bruce's post.
