a Portland Oregn drive
#1

I personally know of about 4 968's that live around Portland Oregon. I would like to propose a drive of around 100-200 miles, up the Gorge and back on the Washington side. With a picnic of some sorts along the way. I would like to do this sometime in July-August when the weather is pure sunshine. Are the any drivers out there who would be interested in getting together?

Although I am not in the "Portland area", if the dates work out, I would be interested in driving down and meeting up. If it works out, I would stay in Portland the night before and the night after. Thus my preference would be a Saturday outing (drive down Friday late afternoon and drive back on Sunday).

(On my way down to Paso Robles in 2013, we stayed at the Embassy Suites close to the Portland airport.)

Jake , sounds like you're hot for a ride after your winter!

Our winter was very mild. I actually have taken the 968 out quite regularly. I just like the idea of making a mini holiday out of such an event AND meeting other 968 owners.

At the end of May there is a PCA event on Vancouver Island which I am NOT signed up for. But... I make use of their "room rate" at the Blackrock Resort (check out what an amazing location that is!), check out other P-cars and probably meet DaveN (who has been absent from this Forum in a while...!).

Here is a picture a few weeks ago at English Bay in downtown Vancouver.

I could be up for a drive.  Need to find the best roads.  It would be fun to drive each others cars so I can see how good or poorly mine is running - if you guys are up for this.

That is correct! Picked them up a few years ago with some decent tires on them for $600! The rear go right on, the front needed spacers (info is on a thread somewhere on the Forum).

I would be up to swapping cars to compare rides.

What sizes are the rims, and how much spacing did they require?

They are 17" wheels. I have no spacers on the rear and I believe that it was 10mm spacers on the front. Without some spacers, those wheels will not fit on the hub.

Found this on the "Show me your Wheels" thread from someone else that has the same wheels:

Porsche Boxster SII wheels... They have 6mm spacers all around,
