TN/NC Borders 27/28 June
#1

Hi,

I'm coming over from the UK to the States for a road trip.  I thought it would be an opportunity to meet up with some fellow 968 owners.  I will be in the area of the Tail of the Dragon, I won't have my 968 with me, but will be in the new 911 GTS.  Anyone fancy a coffee and a chat?  Send me a message.

Cheers

Peter

Cheers Michael,

I will have fun, you too!

Arrive in Toronto on Wednesday, collect the car and head down on Thursday.  I want to go to Nashville, as I have never been there, then out to the mountains for a few days, then back to Canada.  I would like to go back via Washington, again as I have never been there.  Hope to be back in Toronto for for 1 July, been invited to a BBQ.

I do enjoy coming over, last years trip was to do the Nevada Open Road Challenge, my time keeping was rubbish, but the people so much fun, highly recommended!

Cheers

Peter

Had a very late change in the planned car.  Took an M6 Coupe with the Competition pack instead of the GTS.

The Dragon is an unforgiving gateway to an area with many miles of great driving roads.

I wish I could have spent longer, the Smoky Mountains are stunning.  Maybe next time..

Very nice. If you come through Baltimore or if you go to DC I would love to chat over coffee.

FYI, Robby (the guy that makes the Higher Connections battery cable kits for 968's) lives at the NC end of the Tail of the Dragon, in case you need some cables for your 968 while you are here.

JPT,  played with the 2016 Golf GTI when in Toronto, what a fab little car!

It rained when I got to Deals Gap!

The BMW was too big for the Dragon, on the tight left handers the A pillar got in the way of seeing where you were going..  Too much traffic during the day to enjoy it.  A BMW 1200GS and a Honda Valkarie had a coming together whilst I was there.  Very nasty.  Helicopter makes 3 emergency trips a week during the summer to take people to hospital.

On roads like the Cherehola Skyway it was sublime.  Enormous power, precise steering and great brakes.  Good car, list price in Canada was $125k, but had an additional $25k of options.  Very competent.  I think the 968 being a lighter car would be fantastic on the Dragon.  What is your experience?

The next trip, if I can persuade my wife, will be August/ September.  A road trip round Newfoundland and Labrador on the Trans Labrador Highway.

Cheers

Awesome, I've been reading nothing but good things about the Mk 7 GTI. Lucky you get to come here on these great road trips!
