Bay Area Meet (June)
#1

Ok, the last meet went relativly well.

I did like the atmosphere of Fudrukkers but some had other idea's for meeting places.

Lets try to setup a meet on the 28th of June.

I am open to suggestions on a meeting place.

And I am more than happy to use anything within a hour driving distance.

Actually if you would like we can have another meet here in Vacaville at the Round Table Pizza and go for a drive up to Berryessa.

Give me your thoughts. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/huh.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I'm not sure what I'm doing that day but I'll watch this thread. Also, my 968 will very likely be under the knife by then, so I might crash the part-ay with a 944.

Ok Bay Area guys we got a week and a half to go.

I really want to meet up again on the 28TH I just don't know where.

I liked the setting that Fudrukkers had but some others had some great ideas.

Now I am driving from Vacaville (60 miles) and I want it to be more than just me and Arash hanging out.

Any one?

I can probably make it. No input as to where as I don't know the area very well.

Ah, there's a forum topic for this and everything...

On the 28th I'll be participating in Diablo PCA's "Diablo Mille" tour up to Bodega Bay (details at http://calendar.diablo-pca.org), so I'm not sure if I can make this one. I'll keep an eye on where you're meeting up and see what I can do.

I'm going to lay low for a bit on car meetings, I need to spend more time with the family ( wife and son starting to feel neglected.. ) particularly in the summer.. so I'll probably pass on a lot of the local events..

the once a year Paso may just be it for me..

I probably won't make it -- it's going to be pretty busy time of the year for me (my wife and I are expecting a child that weekend).

I guess this trip was just too close to the PR trip.

Actually I do feel a little overwhelmed myself so maybe next month will be easier.

I guess I'll see whoever shows up to the GGR autocross on Saturday.

I'll bring my van, and if they let me, I'll autocross it. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I think Piloti ( and may be even JPTod ) make driving shoes in size 0.05 <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rolleyes.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> , so make sure you get the new driver fitted and ready to revvvv.. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Advance CONGRATS !! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Next month would be better for me as well. I did think of a possible spot to meet, though. I often go to the Berkeley marina, and there's a crab shack kind of place at the intersection of the west side frontage road along 80 with University Avenue. It's not fancy at all, but they have sandwiches, seafood, snacks, coffee and lots of other drinks; quite a variety, actually. It's surrounded by a very large parking lot, the only catch being that it is dirt. Still, the whole setting is way safer in terms of parking hazards than anything in the Emeryville mall area. It's also close to some seriously scenic parking areas if you go out past the marina to the pier parking or over to Cesar Chavez park, where they do all the kite flying. Perhaps we should consider it for next time.

Yea... Berkeley marina is a good idea, with lots of easy parking and easy access from the freeway, but that "crab shack" would Spenger's.... I have way too many memories of high school club banquets from 20 years ago at that place.... It's just me, but I'd rather not revisit those memories....

If we're thinking of East Bay with good parking and freeway access. My alternative suggestions would be

* Pyramid Brewery -- on Gilman Ave -- the next exit. Has a parking lot and located in industrial neighborhood (ie plenty of overspill parking). Across the street from the 924 Gilman Street Project.

* East Ocean Restaurant -- a chinese place on Emeryville Marina

It's not Spenger's. It's on the west side of the freeway where University crosses the frontage road, right before you go out to the marina. I mention it because some of the guys I met in Paso were talking about low-budget alternatives. This place is basically a deli with outdoor seating at picnic tables. Personally, I like Pyramid too, but I would have the same problem I did in Paso--I don't want to drink beer and then drive the 968. Still, if others want to go to there, I'm in. The Chinese restaurant sounds good, too, much better than the mall side of the freeway.

Whew! As long as you weren't thinking about Spenger's! I think the place you're thinking about has a coffee stand or a fruit stand or something, right? I'll take a peek when I drive by.

Rich, I'm pretty sure I'll be at the GGR autocross tomorrow morning. Whether or not I'll be running is a different question, but I've got to chase some PCA bidness.

Berkeley marina sounds like a good venue, doesn't need to be fancy. Maybe I can do a little recon between now and next month...

Ok looks like the June meet is dead.

But July looks promising.

I like dep's idea for a place.

Once I get a good date planned that sounds like a great spot.

Just don't forget to post the address.
