[quote name='rhudeboye' date='Sep 28 2006, 10:00 AM']12K is a lot of money but from what I've been reading, your turbo is a bargin. powerhaus has there cheapest Turbo pkg at 15K and the most expensive at 30K
Whats really impressive is the reliability of these engines when converted to turbo which I assume is do to the low PSI. These engines make incredible power at just 1 bar! Makes you wonder why more turbos weren't offered.
I'm still looking into a 951 as a project (7 grand for the car and 3 in upgrades). But now Im starting to think, 2.5L 8V for 10K or 3.0L 16V for 15K and save on insurance as its 1 less car in my garage.
PS And its more reliable!

The great thing about doing the conversion with the 2.7n/a head and 3.0 block is the bulk of parts used are all factory porsche parts. Someone who can do the work themselves could really get away with doing the conversion for a good price. Once you pick up a 2.7n/a head and pistons to lower compresion the rest can be done with 951 parts that can be had for pretty cheap with some shopping around.
In my opinion porsche didn't offer the 968 turbo like the 951 was offered because it would of been better than the 911.
Thanks again for the nice comments, Tate
