Here are some photos of my turbo cab. It is a 968 3.0 block with a 2.7n/a head. All the internals were changed to lower compresion. Dual hood latch setup was installed so the intercooler could fit without putting it in the front bumper. Autothority Maf was added, 46mm tial wastegate, 3" sfr exhaust, turboXS bypass valve, knob style boost controller. Fuel upgrade, and Big turbo soon to come.
I also attached a picture of my brakes just painted with the duplicolor spray kit from autozone.
Thanks
Tate

let me first say, Nice ride.
Now, I have gobs of questions for you. I'll open w/ these 3. How much HP does this current setup have? Did you do the work yourself and whats and approx cost if thats not to personal.
I've been reading on powerHaus.com of the potential of these 3.0 going Turbo and I'm starting to get that upgrade itch. I cant afford there 22 -30 grand turbo pkgs so was pleased to log on and find your post. I see you only have 4 post. How long has this car been running as a turbo?
I love my 968 for what it is & don't hate it for what it isn't!

I havn't had it on the dyno yet, Soon as I get the new turbo in thats the next step. I did the intercooler, hood latches, and add on's. Trevor (porsche/vw specialist) owner of HRE Racing out of New stanton PA put the enging together and fitted it in. Using the 2.7n/a head and doner parts from a low milage 951 total cost was around $12,000 (thats parts and labor included) then the cost of all the upgraded goodies. The car has been turbo with the current setup for 1 1/2 years with not a single problem. It runs like it came from the factory. The engine was built to handle high hp/ shooting for 425 on the dyno..hopfully by the end of winter. Ive always been around the 968 forums just never posted a lot...always enjoyed reading what everyone else had to say. If you want more info about HRE Racing send me a PM.

12K is a lot of money but from what I've been reading, your turbo is a bargin. powerhaus has there cheapest Turbo pkg at 15K and the most expensive at 30K
Whats really impressive is the reliability of these engines when converted to turbo which I assume is do to the low PSI. These engines make incredible power at just 1 bar! Makes you wonder why more turbos weren't offered.
I'm still looking into a 951 as a project (7 grand for the car and 3 in upgrades). But now Im starting to think, 2.5L 8V for 10K or 3.0L 16V for 15K and save on insurance as its 1 less car in my garage.
PS And its more reliable!

The great thing about doing the conversion with the 2.7n/a head and 3.0 block is the bulk of parts used are all factory porsche parts. Someone who can do the work themselves could really get away with doing the conversion for a good price. Once you pick up a 2.7n/a head and pistons to lower compresion the rest can be done with 951 parts that can be had for pretty cheap with some shopping around.
In my opinion porsche didn't offer the 968 turbo like the 951 was offered because it would of been better than the 911.
Thanks again for the nice comments, Tate

that seems to be the general consensus, yes. . . faster, lighter, and cheaper. . .
