no - it's a cab, so i left it alone - leather is way too high maintanence to be everywhere in a cab - i just moved the switches, added the guages, changed the steering wheel, and did the recaros

Is the note about the hazard switch pointing out that it's no longer red? The mirror switch on the door makes great sense - but I've never gotten used to window switches in the console. Do I see that you moved the fog light switch to the center console? Is there anything in that position on the dash? I'm going to have to do the center gauges - I really like the look and the information.

One of the things that has always amazed me about our cars, well, almost all Porshces, is the illogical or inconvenient placement of controls. I've learned to live with it so I probably won't change mine but this is a nice upgrade. Good job, dude.

Good ergonomics.



I never liked the big red (look at me) hazzard button in the middle of the dash. Mercedes used to do the same thing but after numerous customer complaints they changed the color of the switch and it illuminates red when activated.



Were you able to re-route any of the wiring for the switches from their original locations or did you have to splice them all and run new wire?

thatnks guys - this one had bugged me for a long time and i finally got around to doing it



they all had to be spliced - it wasn't a picnic, but it was manageable - the key is to get multi lead wire (6 lead 18ga) - each switch has a number of wires - it takes some effort to get it all in there, but i love the results



by the way, where the fog light switch used to live is now my garage door opener - when the new opener goes in in may, i will add a switch there and mount the guts behind the dash,thereby deleting the housing of the remote

if by street rods, you mean street cars for high performance, yes - i've set up all different kinds of cars over the years from american muscle to british road racers and most everything in between - done a few V8 installs in tiny cars, and done a few turbos and supercharged cars - had a shop many moons ago - about the only thing i haven't played with are bucket Ts and those kinds of cars

thanks - that's exactly what i was going for - a very custom look for those who know what stock is like, and a very stock look for those who would be looking at a new car - kind of "what would porsche have done if they had the chance to really sit down and think about this car, and not just create a patch to get them through to the 993"

I brought this up sometime ago, but it has always bugged me that the window switches are not illuminated. I do not think any other porsche switch will work anyone ever see an aftermarket one?

What's Porsche's fascination with the "big red button". I saw a new Carrera GT up close the other day and front and center on the dash of a $445k rocket is the big red hazard button....go figure

Perhaps the European members can chime in, but If I remember the regulation is that the hazard switch must be an obvious switch that can be activated quickly.



Europeans use hazard blinkers to indicate fog, traffic hazards or accidents. They are used much more often than we in the US use them, mainly as a hazard indicator for a disabled car (yours).

Any problems reaching the switches behind the stick? I guess you have a cab so the the roof control behind the stick is not a problem.



I find the current window switch locations difficult to press.....maybe I will install the window express in the next year <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rolleyes.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

since the switches behind the shifter are rarely used, and never while moving, it's a non-issue - the new fog and window switch locations are great - very glad i did this

Just a suggestion Flash - why don't you look for a right hand drive piece of trim then you wouldn't have the blanked off button.
