AutoPower Roll Bar
#1

I see that Autopower makes a Roll Bar for the Cabriolet. After talking to them they were a little vague as to how much interior "modification" had to be done to bolt it to the rear wheel wells. I guess the side panels have to come off, maybe permanently with their bar.

Has anyone mounted their bar? If so, How much room is behind the drivers seat for headroom? What was involved in the installation? Flash appears to be permanently out of the Roll ar business and I want to run DE events. Gotta have a bar. Running out of options.

their unit is exactly why i made mine - it requires cutting the interior panels up, and drilling into the car - not things i wanted to do - also, it stands vertical (unattractive), and precludes use of the windscreen at all - also no-gos for me

by the way, not out of the biz - just been backed up with other projects - i can do them one at a time, but the concept of batches is now a dead issue - haven't worked out the price yet though

by the way, to pass spec, you have to get the DOM version of their unit, not the cheapy ERW version

Autopower unit as described by Flash. 4-point mount, fwd two pts.bolt to floor (upper floor of the two-layer floor) near side sills, rear two pts. bolt to rear wheel housing (thus requires interior panel removal or mod).

I have DOM Autopower bar (with bolt-on diagonal bar) sitting in my garage, purchased for my 968 Cab.

But knowing that Flash's bar passes PCA tech. inspection made me want his bar.

So my cab Autopower bar (new in box) is for sale now. I'll offer it cheap for fellow cab owners...

Flash, as you no longer consider doing a batch job, can I ask you to do one bar for me?

I know you're busy, but I'm ready to place an order as soon as come up with the price.

Now that your front bars really worked, it's making me want your "chassis brace" bar (i.e., roll bar) even more ...

Flash,

As you know, we have talked off line about this and if you can do one over one, I'm in. I don't see any other choice I have other than to take your pics to a local fabricator and have one made. Doesn't make a lot of sense if you can make me one...................regardless of the time I have to wait.

You can count me in. If you need a 50% deposit........just say so.

Flash,

I second wiseman on roll bar.

I can put deposit, and wait a little, too.

I mean, for a bar like the one you gave your father in law, if you remember ;-)
