sunroof not going down
#1

My sunroof will go up but it will not go down. Where should I start debuging this problem, at the switch or at the lifting mechanism? It seems like an electrical issue.

Are there glass replacements available for the sunroof?

Sounds like the switch - I'd start there, but there are other things it could be.

Glass replacement - I've hear of them, but don't know where to get them.

There are microswitches located in the roof and in the left rear wheelwell as well. These switches must be in proper adjustment for the sunroof to function. There are also plastic gears used in the linkage to open and close the sunroof which easily break. There is a good write up at www.clarksgarage but it is very tedious and I prefer to let a shop fuss with it. Usually cost less than $100 to adjust and replace the plastic gears and I think it is well worth it. good luck, Bob Blackwell.

My 944 had the same issue. It was the microswitch under the little metal "tongue" at the front of the sunroof. Seems it is there to sense whether the sunroof is installed or not. I had to push the little plastic bit up with a nail for about a month until I got around to fixing it.

Might be worth a try...
