Steering Rack Bushes?
#1

Hi

I was thinking of replacing the rack bushes, while car up on ramp.

Done antiroll bar bushes and belts now, however really stupid question.

Cant see any bushes, looks to me as if rack is bolted straingh to crossmember.

Am i blind?

Thanks

I've heard of one other car like that, without the big "U" shaped rubber bushings.

There are rubber bushings in there, Left 944-347-137-00 Right 944-347-139-01. They also have Delrin bushing to tighten it up, you would only really need to do one side with Delrin.

From memory, my rack is mounted much differently than the one pictured, and has the bolt-over sleeves that contain the bushing you show. I'll have to take another look tonight.

Since your car is RHD, Porsche might have gone with a different mounting system. I'm not sure if the parts catalog covers that or not.

The alternative is that it's an aftermarket conversion.

Hi

It looks all original, red marks on bolts, porsche number on rack, this may be why I get more vibrations through the rack, forgot to say mine is a club sport, could that make a difference?

Thank
