Turning engine backwards
#1

I was going to title this post, "Listening to the little voices," after my experience with the 14-pin connector in the passenger footwell, which a little voice which I didn't listen to told me it would be a good idea to check before trying to fire up the engine.

Well, this is a similar kind of thing. I had been turning my engine by hand for the last several months to hopefully prevent the belts from taking a set, as the time my project was taking continued to drag on much longer than I ever would have imagined. I was turning it from the top, but after I put the fans back, I realized it would be easier to access the pulley bolt from the bottom. So, the first time I did this, I went dyslexic and turned the engine backwards maybe 1/16 of a revolution (as far as the breaker bar can move) before realizing my mistake. The spark plugs were out of the car. I've been turning it the correct way (clockwise) ever since this one mistake. Does anyone think I should check anything, like the timing marks, before trying to fire it up? After all the work I've done, I'd hate for something this dumb to trip me up. Thanks.

Nope.

I sense paranoia setting in.

Unnecessary.

Yeah, massively. This connector thing is going to put me in a padded room...

Turning things backwards when time traveling can cause a lot of problems. Your engine should be fine though.
