I too feel the coupe looks too much like the 944 to have it's own personality. I prefer the lines of the cab, especially with the top up. With it down...especially without the parade boot...It doesn't have as clean of lines as I would expect from a Porsche.

Here is a question for the experienced members: Will a set of Boxter Twist wheels bolt directly onto my '93 968?

agreed about the top design - pretty lame - they could have gotten it to go all the way down if they had given up the pass through feature of the seats - someday i will probably work on that mod

"parade boot" - never heard it called that before - i never run without it, since i know what that does to the top, but i have seen others do it, and i agree, it looks odd - much like a beetle top

While it would be helpful to have the "numbers" for the wheels - diameter, width, offset - I can say that my car had a set of 17" twists that fit with no problem.

With the redesign of the S2 to the 968, the car was freshened up very well except for the roofline. The coupe roof/hatch glass is the big design element that holds the car back from looking totally fresh. The cab does not suffer from this drawback.

That said, you need a coupe for the track.

uh - not really - right now you suffer a weight penalty that makes no sense at all, but i'm going to be working on that - since those cars have the same power train, they should be allowed to weigh the same

the race car i'm going to build will absolutely be a cab - full cage (and no windsheild if i can get away with it) - i'm already allowed out there now that i have the "chassis brace" - that's the whole reason i designed it

no roof for me

Back when they first came out I had a 944 and saw a new 968cab (top up). I wasn't impressed at all. Then a few years ago, as the porsche bug gave me the fever again, I started looking at 944T/968's and saw my first 968cab with the top down and said - WOW... It's been true love ever since. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

[quote name='Darryl' post='32608' date='Mar 17 2007, 07:52 AM']The 968 coupe, while a good looking car, didn't have enough significant styling evolution from the 944 other than the headlights and the rear tail. Still looked "run of the mill", but the cab, as someone else stated, looked more exotic, especially with the top down.

WAIT A Minute! Isn’t the rear of the 944S2 cab identical to the 968 cab? If not identical, they are at least very close.

race car joe - really not interested in anything but scca though - want nothing to do with pca - definitely not interested in anything production class - the point is to see what i can do in setup every bit as much as driving - there is a class that allows most anything you want to do - that would be the one for me
