Should I be using coolant?
#1

100+ degrees, very muggy - run my A/C all the time, drive her hard (as I should! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> )

I can't find ANY coolant leaks anywhere - why should I have to be adding about 10oz or so of coolant every two weeks? (approx.)

I checked the oil, no coolant there...

Anyone have any thoughts? Does your car do this also?

I recently had a somewhat similar happening. After hard track sessions the car would push water out of the overflow on the coolant tank. I was always having to add water. I was worried it was the headgasket or a cracked head. I bought a block leak checker at NAPA. It basically checks if there is any exhaust gas in the coolant. I was worried the system was being overpressurized by a headgasket leak - it wasn't. You might want to check that out since it is only about $50.

Anyways, I changed the waterpump and everything is normal again. I couldn't see anything wrong with the old pump but it is now fixed.

Interesting because the car just had a new water pump in January.

I'm going to borrow a coolant pressure tester from the local p-car shop.

I'll check it tomorrow and let everyone know how it all goes...
