Anyone running aftermarket ignition?
#41

MB968, I think you might be referring to another thread, eg. "What Part Is This?".

Unfortunately, I had Sunset Porsche photograph both that clip (33) and the other ones (34, 36), but they all have the fastening pins on the open end and not on the spine of the C shape like the one I need. They also may not be the correct diameter.

With that being said I did have them send me one so I can fiddle with it. Thanks for looking out for me!

Sorry, you are correct, I was responding to the other thread. I'll see if I can post the above to the correct thread.

I don't know if anyone else has the problem I have, but more than 50% of the time, when I try to post a reply it never posts. So, I have to copy my reply, go back to the list of threads, click on the one I want to reply to, and go through the whole process again. It took me three tries to post the above reply, which I ultimately posted to the wrong thread. I'm running Windows 7, so don't know it that's got anything to do with it, but it gets quite frustrating.

This post took me two tries to get it to work.

I have also had quite a bit of difficulty posting lately, both with Chrome on Windows 7 and with the iPad.

We're talking about the parts marked "Toothed Belt Covering" in this diagram:

Errr I forgot about this topic, but thanks! So I guessed/understood it right after all. Mine is damaged, too. But the frontal part has a hole in it, not the one that's supposed to be there but another damage to the left of it. Not sure that's caused by corrosion. Almost looks as if someone dropped something heavy on it in a distant past.

My car lived in Tokyo and Yokohama until 2010 before coming to The Netherlands, where I never take it out when there is salt on the roads.

Here's a few pics of my corroded post on part #944 105 179 03R. The type of mushroomed middle portion of the post that you see in the first photo, I also saw the initial signs of in a used part that I got from one of the Porsche used parts houses. They gladly refunded me my money when I pointed out to them that the supposed good part that they sent me had early signs of the same type of corrosion degradation.

Ouch, that looks nasty. Mine doesn't have that, I think mine actually suffers from some mechanical damage, perhaps some ^%&^ dropped it, or something on it. Can't seem to find pictures at the moment.
