Is there a coolant drain plug located on the engine block??? so ALL the old coolant can be drained before a change...I can't find any reference anywhere.....

There should be one on the exhaust side of the block. I can't recall exactly where it is though.

Better is to use the plug in the radiator ont the driverside. Colloured black or blue. Buy a new one or better change it with a metal one.



Drain the car with the nose downhill and refill it with the nose uphill!.

Makes live a lot easier.

This is a stragne one - apparently, some engines have a block drain plug, but most don't. I spent a lot of time seaching for one on both sides of my block (I believe Clark's Garage said it as on the driver's side), but mine definitely doesn't have one. I find this frustrating, because I don't see how you can thoroughly drain the coolant out of the engine through the radiator drain plug, unless you remove the thermostat, which isn't terribly difficult, but you have to remove the air box to get to it.



Maybe I just don't understand the path of coolant flow through this engine, but with the thermostat closed, it seems physically impossible to drain the coolant completely. Am I all wet (sorry!) here? Somebody please set me straight if I've got this wrong. Thanks.
