Has anyone just removed the LED lock pulls and replaced them with the metal Rennline ones? The Genuine Part # 944.637.238.00 is relatively cheap, but I've had a number of these break on me. If I just remove the LED unit by unplugging it does the alarm still function properly?
I have a theory that exposed wires from the LED unit in the door have caused an excessive power drain.

Never replaced them but I have re-re'd them to make sure the wiring is healthy and then epoxied them back on so the NEVER pull off again.

Thanks Dave thats a good idea. I like the one and done approach and would prefer to keep the LEDs. These things just seem pretty brittle and I was curious if simply unplugging the LED unit would leave the alarm functional or if some sort or trick was needed like a resistor for the plug that runs to the cars wiring loom.
