All was well until the bubble burst - need a doorcard
#1

There has been a slight area on the driver's door card that was sort of welted up -

Well, it was a warm day today and I got out of the car and the welt - let loose from under the trim.

I am hoping I can get to an upholstery shop to get it warmed up, re-stretched and re-glued. with none the wiser - well you will all know 'cause you have seen the photo -

Add another part to the NLA list - 944-555-068-03 color code DCH - Chestnut Brown driver's interior door panel - crap!

Any other suggestions would be helpful as I mope around about my car.

Thanks,

Ed

Yea that is what I figured...It should be an easy fix and look better than it did when I got it.

There are advantages to having an all-black interior. I love my tan interior, but the carpeting has seen better days and as far as I know the only color still available is, yes, black.

Yea, I showed my import guy who has done all the work on the car to date the photo today and he is really confidant that he can repair it.

So the car goes in on Wednesday for him to look at it when he does some other scheduled work

Are you competing with me to see whose car can be in the most?

What the most in the shop - lol

Yea, maybe -

I have about 500 miles on it since I bought it in April - so far the Hagerty Insurance 3000 mile cap seems really doable - lol

the door panels may not be available, but i'm pretty sure the vinyl still is. veteran company is the supplier.

the issue will be forming it over the contours without a seam.

this is, of course, assuming they can't just glue it back down.

We are going to try to glue it first - Sunset gave me a NLA but Jeff says there is one available without the HI Fi stereo option -

I can't imagine it is that hard to cut out a couple of speaker holes that are behind grills...So I might look at that option - I was also told that Sunset gave me the right door number not the left.

I asked about leather, and no go - and if they were they would be a grand a piece.

I will take it to my guy Wednesday.

that's outrageous. i just had mine done in leather and they were only a few hundred each.

the leather is also almost certainly still available, should you decide to go leather.

Yea, according to Sundet, the OEM leather Porsche Door panels were a grand each but NLA.

If I can't fix this one, then I may look that option up. We do have an upholstery guy in town, but if I can fix what I have first I will go that route.
