1. Disconnect negative battery cable.

2. Wait 45 minutes.

3. Loosen two Torx (NOT ALLEN) screws that hold the airbag in place. I find it easiest to turn the wheel 1/4 turn and loosen the screw that is then "down", then turn the wheel 1/2 turn the other wheel for the other screw. Since it helps to have working steering, I'll usually do this before I do steps 1 and 2, but purists may argue.

4. Lift airbag module from the wheel and disconnect the wire plug at the back of the module.

5. Remove large nut that holds the wheel to the steering column. Be careful not to misplace lockwasher.

6. Remove any wires connected to the wheel (I don't have the stock wheel so I don't remember exactly what wires, but there are horn wires).

7. Remove wheel.

All in all, this can all be done in less than an hour, including the 45 minute waiting time. The first time, though, the screws that hold the airbag module in place can be REALLY DIFFICULT.

Also - since the wheel will move when you loosen the retaining nut, make sure to straighten it out or otherwise note the alignment of the wheel with the mounting shaft - otherwise it's most likely that when you reinstall, the wheel will not end up straight.
