Hey, everybody. Long time no write. Yeah, I'm still out here and still have and drive my 968. 156k miles now.



Now to the point. I deleted my rear wiper assemby. It didn't work very well when it worked and then it stopped completely. I had an old plug that a friend gave me and it's working--sort of--temporarily.



Does anybody have a source for a good plug?

A lot of 944s came without rear wipers. In fact, my old '86 944 did not have a rear wiper and there was a factory plug for the hole that came with the car. I would imagine that dismantlers like Partsheaven might have used ones on hand.

I too bought the Promax part. Although it's a little pricey for what it is. It works just fine and it's well made. Definitely worth it if you can't be bothered making or sourcing one yourself.

Go to a hardware store and ask for an "elevator bolt", and get a washer and nut to go with it. It'll set you back about $3 and it looks fine.

Duckman-



Go to Home Depot or Lowes. Go to the section where they have all those drawers with miscellaneous bolts, washers, fittings, thing-a-ma-bobs, and doodads. Look for gromments. There happens to be one size that fits perfectly in the hole in the rear glass. Then, look for (in the same drawer section) a black plastic plug. It will be slightly smaller in diameter (the plugging part) than the grommet hole. The plug will fit into the grommet and then the surface of the black plastic plug will sit on top of the grommet. Next, go to the sealants section and grab a small tube of black RTV sealant.



Go home, install gromment into hole in rear hatch. Insert black plastic plug- will require a little pressure- I used a small amount of spit to help lubricate. Open hatch and seal between grommet and plug with black RTV.



Done. Costs are *really* cheap and looks OEM.

Went to Home Depot, asked for gromments, they gave me this. Ok, so how do I fit it in the rear hatch ?
