rear shocks
#1

Does anyone know if rear shocks are the same on a 944? The koni # is the same for 968 and 944.

There are alot of new 944 shocks in ebay but few for my 968. I like kyb's but they dont even list for 968's in there web site. Thanx, Matt

Yes Matt, the 944 rear shocks are the same as the 968. The front strut is different however. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

i have always been a kyb fan - but, for this car they really are not the ticket - the kybs "work", but are a bit soft for the heavier 968 - we put them on ron's car, and they were "OK" for street, but definitely soft for performance driving

i have a set of used konis that one of the guys left here for me to sell for him - there is a thread with a pic in the parts for sale section

the right shock for this car would be a hydraulic one, and not gas, but there is no cheap way to get there, and gain any performance or adjustability over stock - i have come up with a solution, but again, not cheap

Flash,

Is your development of the rear adjustable hydraulic shocks still in progress ? Any idea when you can put them on the market (via RS Barn ?) ? I want to order your D1 strut brace + lower chasis brace and some other little stuff via RS Barn, and I'm wondering if I should wait a little more to have only 1 shipment across that big ocean.

I already have stocked some new nice parts in my garage, all <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/huh.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/unsure.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> waiting for installation : new front rotors, brake pads, SS lines, full synthetic brake oil, M030 sway bars + Delrin bushings. It's gonna be a busy winter

i can pull the trigger on the setup, but the price isn't pretty - definitely the best thing going for bolt on flexibility and superior ride, but not the cheapest thing out there

we are trying to figure out how many kits to have made - with so many new products out there, we have to make choices on how many things we extend ourselves on

i'm trying to negotiate a better price on the shocks themselves, so as to lower the package price - they represent over half of the package cost

in the end, it's still better than reindexing, with a LOT more flexibility and a better ride, but won't be for everybody's budget

you get what you pay for, right?

I'm in too ... my Koni yellows are too jittery, and available adjustment (rebound) doesn't really make any difference in the ride.

Where I live we don't have any good roads, so it does get tiring (and, I run 17 x 9 rear wheels which probably aren't helping the ride).

The 944 S2 front strut is physically interchangeable with the 968 (non M030). But there is likely a small difference in valving between the two.
