I have check both forums and can't find a consistand answer to this question .....
After removing the speaker blowing CR-1 radio and installing a common aftermarket head unit, what am I to do with the alarm wire, ground it or leave it open?
As it is now (grounded to earth) when I set the factory alarm I get the double LED flash indicating a problem (per owners manual). What did y'all do when you did your upgrade?

It all depends on the alarm system...
If grounding it gives bad results...just tape it up and leave it open.
if neither works then some voltage needs to be constantly applied, at which point you'll have to check with the alarm wiring diagram...

I just changed out my deck for an alpine with blue tooth and left the alarm wire disconnected.
and the alarm is working fine. if your getting the led trouble code you might check the door
and trunk pins. The blue tooth is sweet! I can finely talk and drive this car at the same time

Mine was open when I removed the old Alpine AM/FM cassette, but I'm guessing that wasn't the orginial and was put in by the PO. I replaced it with another Alpine, so was basically able to disregard. I did stop and think about it for a minute, so I understand your curiosity.

Thanks for the input all. Guess I'll pull it back out, remove the alarm wire and see what happens (just hate the noise when the alarm goes off in the garage ). I took a few pics and will post them so anyone else that has a factory CR-1 system can have all they need to do the job right .
