Sirius Satellite Radio

I just got the Sirius Sportster 4 with the car kit. Anyone else have this or something similar? I'm wondering where the best place is to put the antenna. It's magnetic and I was thinking right next to the roof antenna.

Richard,

When I installed my NAV system, I mounted the metal plate and the antenna on top on the dash.

It works fine and allows the antenna to be inside the car and close to the receiver.

On my cab, mounted the mag antenna between the rear window and the third brake light. Just enough space on the deck lid to accommodate the disk. I do like the idea of inside the front windshield and wish I'd thought of it.

Thanks everyone, I'll try it on the dash first and see how it goes. Good idea though.

Richard,

You will have to drill a pass through hole through the interior facing area on the air handler, to get the antenna into the interior of the car. A coat hanger gets the job done without too much effort.

After you have fished the wire through the hole, use silicon adhesive and a rubber washer to seal things up. The center hole in the washer should be the size of the cable. Split the washer to get it over the wire.

A glob of silicon sealer would do the same job, but I had a washer lying around and it made for a cleaner install.

Even if you don't seal the box, I doubt that it will be a problem, but I did not want to risk an air whistle.

I have a Sportster 4. I installed the antenna on the front of the roof, passenger side, just behind the windshield. Ran the wire down the windshield seal and then back into the car. Too much of a nuisance with it in the back trying to get into the hatch. Did the same with the Cayenne.
