racing steering wheel and quick release
#1

I am confused about what steering wheel and quick release to purchase for a track only car, I will be adding a cage soon. I am 6ft tall and sometimes my legs hit the lower part of my stock steering wheel, using my Sparco Pro2000 seat.

Thanks for any recommendations

My quick release is from a guy in Oregon. He sells a lot on ebay and has a silly url.

I have the type2 and I like it quite a bit. It fits inside a Momo hub adaptor so that it only moves the wheel toward you about 1/4 inch. The quality is good and there is very little play in it. My one complaint is that it is not keyed - i.e. you have to be careful to put the wheel on straight. (Don't ask how I know)

I have a simple Momo wheel and the Porsche Motorsport quick release hub.

I don't think I could very easily get into the seat without being able to remove the wheel!

This is another purchase that I need

Jason,

How much does yours move it forward?

Eric,

I don't like the sound of having to realign the wheel everytime

Graham,

Sorry but I can't remember how my wheel was before. We did this with a seat install at the same time.

Since my wife also participates in DE events, we had the seat put on sliders to accommodate the both of us.

I don't remember how much it moved the wheel forward.

Jason,

Is your seat still bolt fit but adjustable or on a standard road slider?

If bolt through can you show me how you did it?

World of hurt for Graham with his adjustable bolt through platform!

Graham,

I'm using the Recarro sliders...Is that what you mean?

This way my wife can simply lift up on the release bar and slide forward, and all I have to do is slide it back.

Oh yeah, and adjust all the friggin' harness straps, too!

jason - assuming you had to use the tubular adaptors, do you find your sliders put you too high? could you believe how much they weighed?

i was stunned by both with my seats - i had to change that - much happier now

Flash,

I don't know about the tubular adapters...Everything I bought was Recaro. Are you referring to the pieces that allow me to slide back and forth? Yes, I think those are round tubular.

The pieces that actually attach to the seat allowed us to determine the height. Maybe because I'm 5' 7", but I don't have an issue with the seat being too high.
