Questions from a new Owner (odd noise)
#1

Hi folks - I just got my 'new to me' 94 cab home (55k miles, midnight blue, beige/black interior). The 94 is replacing my 91 S2 cab that was shortened a foot and a half while on loan to my dad <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/sad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> . Nobody hurt, insurance $ helped for the upgrade to the 94.

Anyway - the car makes a noise that sounds exactly like an exhaust header leak but only whil the starter is turing the motor - its stops exactly when the starter is dissengaged. I have (and still do) owned quite a few 944s and I have never heard this before - any ideas?

I already made the first mod - the rear seat from the S2 cab is now in the 968 - it looks great.

Chris White

BTW - if anybody wants to see the 944 'fun' stuff check out my site - www.944enhancement.com

BTW part2 - the 968 really is quite a bit different than the S2 cab.

First off, welcome to the best collection of info and people related to the 968!

Second, sorry, but I don't have an answer for you on your noise...I was going to suggest exhaust manifold gasket(s), but that wouldn't correspond to the starter on/off. My car needed lots of things tightened here and there so perhaps it's just something a little loose.

Welcome to the world of 968 and 968Forums.

As for your sound, I've never noticed the one you speak of but I have notice a release of pressure when shutting down; could this be some sort of relief valve (bleed of compression) to aid in starting???
