Folks, this is my first post here though I used to lurk in the past at the 968net.com site several years ago. My dad bought a 1992 gran prix coupe, navy interior, tiptronic back in early 1998 from a friend. He may be interested in selling it (to me) and forgetting for a moment that I am family and would get a break on price, I want to figure out roughly what it's worth. It only has 30k on the clock, which is verifiable via records. First owner was a woman, got tired of it quickly and got an SUV. My dad's friend bought it, drove it regularly for a year and then sold it to him. He just doesn't drive it often. Always garaged since new, so pretty much a bit of a time capsule. He has a very competant porsche mechanic who services it so it is up to date on belts, seals, the major items. What I don't know is if the DME relay has ever been changed out or if the heater control valve has been replaced. I do know neither have failed in the time my dad has owned it.
So, I don't have all the option numbers to give but here's the basics:
-Gran Prix White exterior, navy leather interior
-Tiptronic (wish it was a 6-speed)
-16" wheels, though it has center caps with gold porsche logo instead of the standard black, not sure what that option is, if it is a one-off thing or part of a 'package'.
-Everything else works, sunroof, rear wiper, etc.
Rest of the car is pretty much standard, excellent condition.
Only thing it needs is some seals to be replaced around the exterior door handles, they have dried out and have cracked. Figure that isn't a huge deal. The other seals on the car (rear window, door, etc) are all in great shape.
So, what would the market roughly support for this car? Obviously kbb.com is way off, too low.
Thanks in advance for the advice,
