Shift Boot
#1

Just picked up a new shift boot to replace my worn out one. Figured I share since it was only $20 plus $10 shipping.. I'm pretty happy with what I got, it's real nice leather and fits perfectly, there out of the England. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PORSCHE-924...emZ230207478826

Nice find. Thanks for posting! Mine is starting to show its age and I was starting to looking for options. I want to hold out for a 996/Boxster S unit but $30 is hard to beat.

Hi,

Is the leather comparable to the factory shift boot? In the picture it seems very thin and without texture?

It definetly has texture to it. It's hard to say if it's thinner then the old one. My old one was getting kind of hard and this one is a lot softer feeling. To me it seems like a good thickness.

For those in need, Performance has a very nice unit - check out part #9278. It's $77.95 but it's very nice leather and a perfect swap unit - no work to speak of. When I did mine, the offered the leather boot, or the unit (the boot already mounted on the knob). I did the leather, and wished I'd done the unit.

I kept it original with black. I was comtemplatng going with Cashmere like my interior as I have seen some cars, but didn't.

I purchased a parking brake boot cover replacement from the ebay seller discussed above for my Land Rover. The stock LR piece was vinyl, this piece was leather, thicker than stock with a nice grain.

Oh, it was also half of the price for the crappy stock LR part, shipped from the UK.

It was a nice upgrade.
