Both of my power steering hoses from the reservoir are leaking. One hose from the reservoir to the pump is only $45 from paragon and is just a formed hose with clamps. The second hose is a formed hose with clamps at the reservoir side, but then transitions to a steel line that snakes above the oil cooler, across the rack and ends on the driver side of the rack. I believe that line is $130+, but it seems a waste to replace the whole line when only the rubber hose portion is what is leaking. I was proposing having just the rubber hose made with a fitting on the end, then cut the steel line, slip on a fitting, and flare the end. Now with a simple connector I could connect the new rubber hose to the steel line with the cost and hassle of buying and installing a new line. Has any one looked into this or can anyone think of any reason not to pursue this course of action? In the mean time I am going to shop around for the cost and locations to have a hose made.
