A few weeks ago when I was at RSBarn I saw an old intake manifold sitting in the corner with a massive build-up of carbon on the inside.
Pete told me that he would send the part out to be dipped and bead blasted to remove the build-up.
I decided to have the procedure done for my car, since I suspected carbon build-up.
Well...
Last week I had Pete and Max swap out my intake manifold, and also the vanity cover and valve cover so they would match.
The result was spectacular!
My engine looks brand new. I can't wait to pop the hood in Hershey and show it off.
But here's the best part...
As a result of cleaning out the carbon from the manifold, and the top of the valves where it was accessible during the procedure, along with a bottle of run rite treatment for the combustion chamber, my car runs like new again!!!
I thought it was running great before, but now it's even better! The effect is most noticeable when the engine is cold. Where it used to run better after warming up, now it runs great from the moment it fires up.
They also added a thermal gasket where the manifold attaches to the engine which is designed to minimize heat transfer to the manifold and thereby reduce the temperature of the air entering the combustion chamber.
The car runs smoother and has noticeably more pep. WOW!
Don't know how much was due to the carbon removal and how much from the fancy gasket, but I don't care.
The whole procedure was way less expensive than I would have expected.
This was a great move for my car. I'd recommend you talk to Pete about it if you have a high mileage car like mine.
