power steering belt replacement
#1

While driving on to my trailer at my last DE, I scraped the front of the car on the trailer and pulled off my power steering belt.

Can I just loosen the tensioner to slip the belt back on or do I have to loosen the power steering pump pivot bolts?

What is the correct tension for the power steering belt?

txs

The power steering pump pivots on it's upper mount. Loose the bolt and nut that hold the tensioning bar to the engine on one side and the pump on the other. Then back off the lock nuts, remembering that one of them is reverse thread. Collaps the tensioning strut all the way and slip on a new belt. Correct tension is about 1/4 inch play in the middle of the belt. Don't forget to tighten the tensioning strut mountings.
