Overheating with the A/C on
#21

could be 16 - i was told it was 13 psi - i can't find the spec, and mine also says "150" - i have no idea what that number means - i tried converting it to something else and can't make heads or tails of it

I just looked thru PET and back to at least 85 the radiator cap (which they call cover) has been the same part number. I know I replaced mine with one from a parts store, I'm pretty sure it's the right one but will be sure to go look at it again.

Update:

The replacment cap I have on there is 16lbs, the original says 150 on it. Does the 150 relate to heat or bars or?

Took it for a drive today after removing and cleaning all the grounds (minus the one in the foot well, haven't felt like contorting for that one yet) and re-fastening the upper rad hose that was walking off. It was a little cooler about 90 and had the A/C on (top down), moving or idle it didn't go above the top white bar so that was an improvement. I need to do some more testing, and still need to bleed it out again and probably another bottle of water wetter. I also had the lower tray removed for the power steering issue, so that should have detracted from it's cooling ability.

I added the Lucas Oil power steering stop leak. I would never recommend or use a stop leak type product, but since I'm looking at rebuilding the rack and pump anyways I figured I had nothing to loose and that whole aggravation of it being a new rack with 5k miles that's squirting oil. It does actually appear to be slowing with no side effects, the bottle says it will take some time to fully stop, so I'll keep watching it. It's basically a thicker goopy oil like most stop leaks. Maybe it will buy me a few more months, I really don't want to dig into it right now.

FYI: 150 bar = 2175.566 psi and 150 psi = 10.34214 bar ????

The closest I could find was 150 kilopascal = 21.75 psi; so it is most likely a cast number or something like that IMO.

Well I'm sure my rubber houses will not stand up to 2175.566 psi <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> .. It can't be temperature either since I would think it would refer to Celcius and that would be way to hot.
