Ordering for Batch 2 of the D1R Supercharger Kit is now open
#1

After half of a year of service of the bulk of the first batch of Supercharger kits (a couple of them remain to be installed), we can proudly say that operation has been all but flawless. With nearly 30,000 miles on the systems now, we can say with confidence that the system is truly "bolt-on" and reliable. We only made a couple of small changes, and sent the parts out to everyone, who installed them, and were on their way to having more fun. These changes were extremely minor, and while there were no real issues, we felt they were important to the longevity and reliability of the system.

6 speed

Same as it ever was. (Why mess with a good thing?)

Tiptronic

We are also now pleased to announce that we have a kit available for the Tiptronic. The performance is nearly identical to that of the 6 speed, with only the Tiptronic Computer and extra drag of the transmission itself limiting the output a small amount. The power output of the Supercharger is so smooth and linear that the Tiptronic actually seems like it benefits more from the system than the 6 speed. We have not tested it on the dyno, as we felt there was no real need, and it is very difficult to get accurate readings on an automatic.

Here is a link to a thread all about it: http://www.968forums...for-tiptronics/

Stage 2

We are not yet ready to release Stage 2.

AC Delete

We are sorry, but at this time there are no plans for an AC Delete system

So, we are now ready to proceed with batch number 2.

The kit is exactly the same as batch 1, with only the incorporation of the new parts as a difference.

We will be selling the kit for the original price of $3995 plus shipping.

Shipping cost is approximately $60 for UPS Ground in the lower 48 states. Contact us for other shipping options, and for any international shipping

Payment for this batch will be in full at the time of ordering, and payable to Design 1 Racing. Email "sales@design1racing.com" for details.

We prefer checks, but we can accept credit cards or PayPal. Either of the latter two will incur an additional 3% charge for Domestic transactions and 3.5% for International. We can also accept wire transfers, but will need to add any and all fees associated to that.

Now that we have worked out all the details, completion time is approximately 4 weeks from the 10[sup]th[/sup] order.

Count me in. I'll send funds as soon as they become "free and clear". Time to get "detailing for dollars" and sell more Adam's products! Who needs Coupe parts?

Count me in. Can you possibly explore shipping costs to Australia (currently Gladstone QLD 4680). Also, when you need the payment, it will most likely have to be via a bank transfer (or credit card).

Thanks,

Craig

Even though I am leary about the lack of controlled testing done and the dubious quality control I'M IN!

Send me the particulars and a bank draft will be on it's way. Seems I've soiled myself

Craig,

Just curious, since you race your car, what class will the supercharger bump you up to? How competitive do you think you'll be (although I guess you won't know that until you get out there)? Thanks (sorry about going slightly off topic...)

i am also curious about that one, though hopefully they base it on power output, and not "you have this, so your'e stuck here" - if they do base it on power output, the design will help a lot, as the horsepower output is limited, but the torque output is not, so it will make a lot more effective power relative to it's measured power, making the car a lot faster than the numbers would indicate

Is this kit street legal in California? What are the specs before vs. after? What does it do to gas mileage? Engine life? Any other mods necessary? Is this practical for a DD? Sorry if these seem like obvious questions, but I tried to search the site and could not find this info.

Flash / Cloud,

Short answer is I currently don't know as I don't know what sort of power it will put out. I am guessing/hoping that I will be in our C-class. Once we run it on a dyno and re-corner weight it, we will know what the power to weight will be. Our competition is based on power to weight and vehicle age (if an older vehicle you have more options with tyres - up to slicks if you want).

Each Porsche Club over here has different rules and reg's. There is no consistency, so if I move states it will be a different story and different classification.

I will start a new thread once I have some photo's, etc.

do they only look at horsepower numbers, or do they also look at torque numbers?

i'm not sure what you are looking for - there really is no info to send that isn't already here - just read the appropriate threads in the Heavy Breathing section

i have 6 confirming emails so far, and am expecting 2 more any time now (i've already heard from them before, but need the confirming email) - that will make 8 - assuming all follow through with payment, just 2 more after that and i'm done making these for a long time

i'll send out the order form this afternoon to those addresses from the emails that i have received this week

if you think you're on the list, but haven't heard back from me by tomorrow, you need to send me a new email

Flash,

HP only. One of the mechanic's has a 930 running twin turbos that puts out around 550hp and is in Open Class - he is going to wind down the power through the programmable ECU and try to keep the current torque and drop a few classes - so yes you can play with forced induction cars. Similar, there is nothing to stop people running low boost on a dyno and claiming this is the power output and then upping the boost at the track.

It is a dilemma. I was accused of cheating when I was running the 968 in N/A form (putting out a whole 186 hp) - that is the year I won the championship. Had to have the car weighed, etc to prove it. Bit hard to make mega HP with a N/A engine - even my mechanic was vouching that it was stock.

Just faxed back. Here's a question for down the road. If I decide to take the S/C off of my 6 speed and install it on my tip can I buy the required chip from you and do that?
