Racing seat install recommendations?

[quote name='Eric_Oz_S2' timestamp='1377166367' post='147714']

Yes they are asymetric, but it doesn't really matter as long as the difference isn't too large. The positioning of the eye bolt on the tunnel side is a compromise between seat travel and access on the inside of the tunnel. obviously it is better if the offsets are similar, but not super critical. The straps are adjustable, right?, so there should be enough length in them to adjust to the right length.

Look at the schroth install instructions if you want to check the correct angles.

My two cents is that you install the driver's seat with sliders and the passenger's without. You may be 5'10" but the instructor you invite to drive your car might be 5'6" or 6'3". The weight difference is not substantial and there are track-safe rails available.

Don't forget the seat brace attached to your cage/roll bar.

Hmmm... I went the exact opposite route. I tried using sliders on the drivers seat, but even though I'm only 5'10", my helmet hit the roof, so I bolted it directly to the floor (which turned out to be quite a bit of work). The passenger side, however, is on sliders, since the car is still going to be driven on the street for awhile, and I wanted to give my passengers the flexibility to adjust the seat.

Thanks for the tip about the seat brace to the roll bar - I hadn't thought of that. But as I've said, this is my first foray into building a track car, so I'm sure there are many things I'll discover I've overlooked as I move forward.

Flash,... I see you have Beard seats in your 968. Sounds like a good solution for a road/track car. Was there any problems getting it to fit in the 968. Which beard seats do you have installed? Did it take custom brackets?

Guys,

Another option that I used on an earlier track 968 was the Kirkey Intermediate Road Race.

You can't beat the price, they are amazingly comfortable, super light weight, and they were fairly easy to fit as I recall. I used the Brey-Krausse brackets I think. They also come in various widths to fit big butts to skinny.

Give em a look.

My current toy has Sparco Evo's on sliders and for height I fit fine with helmet, 6'2"/240lbs, but they are just crushing my hips and thighs, so I'm looking at Evo 2's I think. The Evo 3's I'm told flat out will not fit the 968, too wide.

Cheers

Thanks for the input.... Had a look at the Kirkeys. Looks like a great price.

I'm looking for something that can be used for street also. I'm 59, 5'10' 250(overweight), problems knees...so looking for something with easy entry and comfortable for long drives. I still want them 5/6harness ready.

Has anyone worked with GTSclassics seats, like the original Porsche look of some of his seats, for there cars.

Beard seats may be a good choice because of the added comfort and ruggedness.

Currently still have original grey leather seats installed. There ok for running around town...but are to small to fit me for track.
