I have now finished the extremely boring repair of the left wiper - had to take the entire car apart (or so it feels like anyway). At least I got away cheap...
Since my car is very grateful it started to leak oil almost instantly from the right front corner of the car [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif[/img] . Down on my knees I can see droplets hanging from a cooler. Reddish oil and it smells like servo fluid so I assume it is the oil cooler for the servo. But when I look in the PET it says that the servo has simply a curved pipe acting as a cooler and what I have looks more like an engine oil cooler or the tranny cooler for a tip/auto car (mine's a 6 speed). Has my car been modified or where there different versions on different cars?

Yep, that's most likely power steering fluid. It is common to have seeping from the hard line connections either under the resevoir or at the coupling to the long tube like cooler as you describe. Make sure all the connections and hose clamps are tight...sometimes that's all it is. If you find you need a power steering cooler, I actually have one that I picked up awhile back thinking I had a similar problem.

Good to know should I need a new cooler. I'm gonna keep an eye on the level in the reservoir to see if the leak gets any worse before I can lift'er up and check everything more thoroughly. Btw, do I check the level in the reservoir when the oil is cold or hot? The level is now slightly below the MIN mark when cold. What is the recommended fluid?

Not sure it matters cold or hot...sounds like it needs a "top off". Do a quick search on here for specifics, but type III or IV ATF is the norm. Also, if it is indeed power steering fluid dripping down, double check the sway bar bushing on the right side...it will eventually expand and explode...ask me how I know.

Thanks for the advice. The bushing is ok for now as it's dripping further forward (don't know how the drips fly when I drive though). I doesn't matter much anyway - the faster they wear, the closer I get to the Elephant piece [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif[/img]

I also had a power steering reservoir leak. Fluid was flowing past the hose connection on the bottom of the reservoir where it drops onto the frame rail and flows back towards the fire wall. Mine was actually spraying back on the exhaust headers, not good because of the potential fire hazard. It also killed the sway bar bushing is short order. I don't know that I would wait too long before correcting the problem.
