Hi everyone,
I finally bit the bullet and had my AC replaced, it was well beyond my pay grade as a mechanic. Expensive job, but there was no way out but through. When I got the car back, there were two issues. The first, was that the odometer kept resetting itself - resplendent with a loud clunk, like when you press the reset button hidden in the air vent. The second is that I have no instrument lighting. I had the trip meter disconnected, but the resetting continued. Of course the mechanic is blaming the age of the car etc etc. It seems too coincidental to me, as both things were working beforehand.
Anyhow, whilst I was under the dash yesterday, pulling out the dimmer to clean it (thinking that this might be one of the issues), a second two wire plug fell down. It was identical to the plug that was connected to the dimmer. I am now suspicious that the mechanic may have swapped the plugs, explaining my challenges. One of the plugs is tagged with a 'T', and I found that this one was presently plugged into the dimmer. Surely it would not be that 'T' means Trip?
Does my logic sound right, and has anyone had experience with this area of the dash?
Thanks in advance.
Peter
