So, last weekend I sold my 951. I'm happy and sad.
I did get very close to my asking price, this was a great thing.
After messing with the waterpumpers for 8 years I'm just burnt out.
These cars have been very good to me as well as all the fine folks I've met over the years. I'm still not going anywhere and will still be showing up to meets, gatherings and celebrations. (Its in he blood).
But it may be time to change my name to BimmerDude :-)
I had a number of BMW's prior to getting into porsches, and the bug for another E24 had been biting me for the last few months. I had 4 of them :-).
After searching for the last 2 months I picked up an '89 635. They stopped production of the 635 April 3, 1989. Mine was built in march of '89. I still have not found out which day.
The car I got is a 3 owner car with owner number 2 owning it from '91 till '07. It was a summer car for the Hamptons. Always garaged. Came with records going back to 1990. The PO bought it as a daily driver and put $18k into it over the last 2 1/2 years. I feel like I stole the car from him.
I really wanted an '89, and it had to be black. I found a Black over Silver Gray car. Leather everywhere including the headliner. Front and rear AC.
A manual would have been nice. But as some of you know "thee car" can be hard to find. This one is sadley an automatic. I have already started gathering the needed parts for a 5 speed swap.
It has some Alpina reps on it that are brand new. Unfortunatley they are not aggresive enough for my tastes. They will work for the time being till I source the right set of wheels. Only other plans are to lower it.
Here is the only pic I have right now. I'll put up a few pics over the weekend. I'm really stoked about finding this car. Should hold me over till I can get into a (dare I say it) tail dragger.
