New Ownership - Same Great Site
#1

Greetings to all of you 968 enthusiasts, both new and long standing.

As Eric indicated not long ago, he has been planning to sell the website due to a promotion and a very busy life. We wish him well in all of his endeavors, and Eric, you will always be welcome here. It is our pleasure to announce that 968Forums.com has been sold to Avalon Partners LLC, RS Barn LLC, and Early Apex LLC, also primarily known as Bob “Flash” Larson, Pete Fitzpatrick, and Jay Kravitz. We three bring to the table extensive experience, knowledge, and resources that will result in the growth and expansion of what has become the best Porsche 968 website in the world.

Our first order of business is to thank Eric for all of the hard work that he has put into the site, and placing his trust in us to maintain his high ethical standards and mission goals. 968Forums.com was created to give us a place to have free and open discussions that, while spirited and never lacking widely varying opinions, gives every member a chance to be heard with respect.

Merrian Webster says it best when it describes a forum as; a public meeting place for open discussion or, a medium (as a newspaper or online service) of open discussion or expression of ideas …

Eric had the fortitude and vision to create an open public meeting place where every voice in the 968 Community had a chance to be heard. From the beginning, we have supported and endorsed these ideals. Our enjoyment of the camaraderie and personal relationships we have built far exceed the mere exchange of ideas on how to fix, polish or modify our common interest, the Porsche 968. Many of you have met us in person when we hosted or sponsored events like the 968 Celebration in Newtown or the annual Paso Robles run in California, or when we simply attended a Fun Run, or helped a 968er in need of some advice or a spare part. We are dedicated to making the entire 968 experience one that will bring you joy for as long as you remain a part of this great family.

We are committed to maintaining the ideals that have made this site great. We continue to support this on-line forum, and our overarching personal dedication to making this a strong community.

We encourage the open expression of thoughts and ideas, and welcome anyone who wants to come here and share the spirit of friendship and respect that differentiates this site. This is a place for everyone. We expect common courtesy and consideration, and open sharing of your knowledge and opinions. People of all backgrounds and interests bring to the community a diversity that only serves to strengthen and broaden it.

The basic principles of this site will remain unchanged. We expect that we will have no more need for moderation than ever, and will make every effort to keep spam or hostility from interfering with your enjoyment of this site. As always, this site has been and will remain free to its members.

You will probably see a few minor changes that will take place over time. We are planning to add several new sponsors in the near future and we are looking forward to offering 968Forums “swag” through Café’ Express. There will also be upgrades to the outstanding features the site has always had, which place it far above any other site featuring this car. As this site is entirely focused on one model, it has the unparalleled ability to provide the best support mechanism for all of us. It is capable of things no other website has been or ever will be. You will see the organization of the site improve, the DIY library increase, and be reorganized for an easier search, and the validation process accelerated.

We look forward to continuing the ongoing development and expansion of what has become the greatest website and resource for anyone interested in the Porsche 968.

Drats. I thought the site would be taken over by some 968 enthusiasts - not by some passionate lovers of our car that will drive us nuts with things to do, upgrade opportunities, and event after event. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wacko.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Wait a minute - that's a GOOD thing. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Congrats to the new team - Eric has done us proud. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/excl.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Good luck to you guys with the website, and to Eric.

Keep up the good work!

I'll be visiting more often, since the 968 needs attention now that the aircooleds are almost completed.

Bob, Pete, Jay : CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU for your incredible dedication to the 968 community which drove you to this admirable undertaking; no small sacrfice I'm sure, but know that you have the gratitude of so many of us that benefit immensly from the quality of information posted here.

Also thanks to your "significant others" who may have questioned the sanity <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> of your respective decisions to dedicate even more time and effort to the 968 cause, than you already had been, perhaps at the expense of time and attention otherwise due them <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rolleyes.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/unsure.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> ?!, but then came to the realization that the greater good of many was what's at stake and went along with it.. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/cool.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Cheers !!

Welcome back.

I didn't have a 968 when you went off the air ... and I still don't. But I'm as determined as ever. Could be this Spring.

All the best.

Thanks for picking up the torch guys.

Without this site, I don't think that I would have had the courage to buy a 968. Purchasing a Honda S2000 or a BMW M Roadster (which were both on my list) would have been a much safer bet, probably more reliable, easier to find parts and mechanics and more to choose from. But compared to what I have experienced both with the car and this site, the other choices would have been oh so boring !

This site makes me feel like I am not 'going this alone' and there is a LOT of support behind me, rewarding my choice to own a truly special and unique automobile.

I can't thank the people behind this site enough for their dedication to both the car and their owners.

I think it's awesome to see how smoothly the torch has been passed here. It's a model of how a web forum should be operated. Personally, I couldn't be more pleased to see what has gone on here. I think this website is a great representative to strangers of the 968 of how active and proud the 968 community is. Congratulations to Jay, Pete, and Bob. I look forward to see what you guys have in store! I'm expecting great things!

Eric, you've brought the baton a long way, and you deserve a great big pat on the back for the contributions that you've made the 968 community. Put your feet up for a while... you deserve it!

Best regards to Eric and congratulations to the three of you. I'm already enjoying the expanded topics and will likely be late to work - again - for spending time on the forum this morning.

But if I drive the 968 and take the twisty road, I'll probably make it!

Good luck and keep up the great work!

it has been very gratifying to see the overwhelmingly fantastic response

the traffic flow has increased by an incredible amount - there have been more people online than i have ever seen before, and a lot of activity - the messages and emails we have gotten have been great

i know i speak for pete and jay as well when i say we all look forward to great things from here on

thanks again for all of the support - it's the members who make this forum work - it's the members who have made this forum stand clearly head and shoulders above any other, and have established it as the predominant 968 forum
