New member thanks you guys
#1

I just want to say thanks to the creators/admins and the members of this forum. I just joined today and I've already learned a great deal about the 968 from this board.

Maybe I was a bit presumptious in calling myself 968bill before I had a 968 but I've got a line on one right now so hopefully in the next 10 days my ID won't be considered false advertising. By the way, since I'm member # 988 who got to be Lucky Member 968?? Did you already make a big deal over this?

If I do get this car I'll have a couple of major items I'll want to get advice on before a DE in March (new shocks/struts and new clutch) but for now I'll just search away.

Thanks again,

Bill W.

Welcome again and good hunting. Lots of info here.

Mr. nparmar was member 968. I watched this come and go because the vast majority of members are non-posters or one time visitors. So it was no big deal, but if anyone is inclined to light a victory cigar, smoke 'em if you got 'em.

Welcome to the absolute best forum on the internet for the 968. Lots of good folks here and a darn good knowledge base that is always willing to help.

Do yourself a favor and have a 968 knowledgable shop (itself a rarity) do a prepurchase inspection before you close the deal. The 968 is pretty reliable, but there are a few key issues that can run up the costs very quickly if they need repair.

Thanks for the welcome guys!

Orphanowner, yes the PPI is scheduled by a shop that's on the Potomac Region's recommended list for tech inspections, Autobahn Services. www.autobahnserviceinc.com And since the car has 100K and I'll be driving the car 600 mi. home (hopefully) I'm having them pull the cam cover and check the VarioCam pads, cam chain and teeth for any issues. If the car was closer I would do that work myself but I don't want the car to self distruct on the drive home.

The sellers have and extensive service history on the car too. They've been very accomidating on my request and even suggested getting the PPI before I got around to asking for it.

Hopefully the transaction will go well but even if it doesn't this forum is a great resource for me to continue my search.

Thanks again,
