ok - it turns out that once the motor mounts get to about 60% height, a clearance issue arises - additionally it appears there may be a small variance from car to car that exacerbates the condition
i did not expect the need to accommodate anything less than near perfect condition, and have always felt that one should sort out everything first before modifying - however, it turns out that it is very easy to not know the condition of the car until you get in there to install this thing, and then it may be too costly or inconvenient for some people, especially if the mounts are functional and not near the failure point
so, a "fix" is now worked out - a couple of notes on this fix:
this is NOT the correct thing to do
the correct thing to do is to replace the motor mounts, regardless of whether or not they are making contact or have failed yet
this fix will not work if your mounts are already making contact or are near making contact - this will only increase the clearance on marginal mounts, but will not be a correction for failed or near failed mounts - we will not be doing that
this fix will likely NOT work with aftermarket mounts
this fix may cause ground clearance problems on lowered cars, particularly street cars with minimal spring improvement - the damage that results from this could be significant - if you smack the bar, you could pull the weld nuts at the castor blocks right out of the frame - we are not responsible for this, it is not recommended, and we strongly recommend that you replace the motor mounts instead
the fix consists of a new set of brackets - they will be ready in a few days - we will send them to the few people who are experiencing exhaust manifold clearance issues - you need to contact pete directly to arrange this
after this shipment though, we will have to be more specific in the ordering process, and discuss the condition of the motor mounts and ride height of the car, etc
thanks in advance for all the input - sorry for the inconvenience
