New Forum Mechanic Recommendations
#1

John Etniers post requesting a mechanic refferal got me thinking. We started talking about this topic almost 2 years ago over on .net. Let's put togeather a list of member recommended mechanics. Well here is the forum to do just that please follow the format I just submitted for the mechanic that Larry recommended way back when. Also if you have good or bad experiences with a mechanic please share those too.

I hope this forum will help many people over time.

Here is the format that should be followed for easy searches:

This was also one of the original ideas we had in when beginning to develop the Member Map a few years back (search 'Member Map' and you should get taken straight to it). At the time that I developed the map, there were about 1200 members on the forum and maybe 4 or 5 shops that were vetted. They all made it onto the map (all 1205 or so). Obviously people move, and there was a bum-rush of new members about a year ago.... and the map was dropped from maintenance before then..... so I would venture to say that it is about 90% accurate at this point.

Flash had talked about re-attacking the project, but he is pulling away from the forums altogether. I don't have the time nor the coding chops to do anything beyond what is done. But if someone new wanted to take on the resurrection project, that would be appreciated by many! It has been proven useful when I moved to locate local owners and new shops that can be trusted.

Help! Glad I started reading posts, have had my 93-968 for 8 years and never changed timing belt. Now I'm thinking I have a time bomb sitting in my garage. What I need is a good mechanic in the Chattanooga TN area. Any suggestions?

I had posted a shop above called Motor Sports, Unfortunately their Porsche mechanic Wes Andrew's retired and they no longer work on Porsche's. So that listing should be removed.

MY new mechanic is great.

If we are going to develop a list then that should be all it is.

A list first by state then city. It should not be a thread were there are comments like this. that way someone who is looking for a mechanic could first look up his or her state and then could look up the cities that were close to them.

Regarding the map, I tried to volunteer about 3 times but each time I tried Flash said there was no way he would allow me to have access to the information and so the map never got updated. I am retired have lots of time on my hands and possible could do this for the group.
