Mechanic Needed - Victoria, BC
#1

HI All,

I'm looking for recommendations for a reputable mechanic in Victoria, BC.  Warnings of who to avoid are also appreciated.

Best,

Trent

Thanks, Jay.  I'm too new to search out users by geographical location.  I'll PM him if I don't get any suggestions.  Cheers!

there are many owners of 968's in Seattle. I can not remember the name of the person, whom I met before I bought my 968. I think his first name is Tom. His was a guards red coupe. Perhaps Flash could send you the email links to some of those owners as Seattle is closer than where I live which is Portland Oregon. I have a good mechanic but it is too far from you

I just did some research on an old product of the forum called the community map. it shows 3 member names near you. I do not know if they are still on the forum or not.

For those who are unfamiliar with British Columbia, Victoria (the provincial capital) is on Vancouver Island, which is a 2 hour ferry ride away from the mainland (City of Vancouver area).

So... I do not know of any good 968 mechanics in the Victoria area... however there is a good mechanic up-island in the Qualicum Beach area. Peter Beyeler moved there a few years ago after he retired from being a Porsche mechanic in Calgary, AB. He has worked on the 968 from DaveN from Campbell River. I plan to have him replace my Vario-Cam pads in the near future. His number is 250-752-7430.

Hope this helps...

In case someone else finds this thread in a search, I thought I'd answer my own question. I found Mark Tarr at VCM Automotive in Victoria. He was a Porsche mechanic prior to opening his own shop. He's down to earth, knowledgeable, and won't hesitate to send you home to fix it yourself if it's simple. I was impressed with his knowledge and service. I'd recommend him to any other Islanders.
