New Diagnostic tool
#1

Saw this on line a few months back. You get the program and connector for the 968 for 300$. Just need a laptop to make it all work. Seems like the Hammer, but much better. Diagnosic and theraputic control of codes and resets......so they say.

Anyone try one?

First time I saw that one, looks interesting.. It doesn't actually say Airbag reset, but the Airbag is listed as one of the categories on there screen.

Edit: the front page actually does say it clears Airbag codes..

They advertise in Panorama...I checked it out myself. But, sorry, no first hand experience. I'm surprised that the home made hammer thread folks didn't mention this. Unfortunately, I've been way too busy to attempt this did know stuff like this existed. I know a couple of guys actually ordered the parts to DIY, but with mixed results. Do a search here for some very interesting reading...

One thing I learn from the ad is that the female connector to fit the round diagnostic connector that's under our dash is available from some source. I'll search again. I have one of the "alternative" devices, but I haven't had the time to try it out yet. It's on the list for this spring.

Hi Darryl,

Maybe you've missed it but it is now a quiet long topic of the solution for resetting the airbagwarninglight.

But the information Xrad has attended me to is traceable at:

Thanks, Ritchie...yes, that's the thread I've been following, but I simply didn't see the most recent post with the Duramentric link <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rolleyes.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> Hopefully, someone will chime in once they use it. I may be in a position to purchase in a few months pending funding from a new business venture! I may go for the Pro version so I can use it on an unlimited number of cars...

I have the Durametric and have used to clear several codes-but not AIRBAG

It is supposed to, but I have tried on several cars without any luck.

Anchorman has some other software I'm going to try.

Just received Durametric software and cables. Real nice round connector. Had to do a little upgrading to my Win 2000 laptop before it would accept the install. Cost: about 300$ delivered in 2 days. Will check it out this weekend.

Hooked up cables, turned on key, started program...works great. Only one fault code: Airbag ..

Durametric has two choices when checking out the 968:

1) DME

2) Airbag

So I ran #1 first and no faults (even with aftermarket chip)

Then I ran #2. I know the airbag light has been on since I bought the car. I have tried the 30 second gas pedal hold. It cycles the lights, but the airbag warning always came back on.

Anyway, Durametric seems to have created a second fault code section for the "airbag". Once the 'fix fault' button was pressed (digitally) for the airbag, I saw the warning lights cycle and the airbag light was gone. About 10 seconds later, it came back on. So i hit the fix fault button again. Lights cycled and the airbag light and the big red "!" went out and have not come back on, even after several car starts and several long drives.

Not quite sure if it is a good deal ...300$ to turn off a light...but maybe it will come in handy later.

Hi XRAD, maybe you have to control the connectors of the airbag for extra resistant. It seems strange that the first run to delete code had no succes after 10 seconds.

You have no options with durametric to look into airco, abs, alarm and tiptronic?

Maybe you can do some experiments to ad a code in the software from durametric? Doe they have a config file where you can manipulate the adresses from the different components in the car?

here you have an example

[S00] This is the mainadres!

and those are the faultcoades possible.

;Anti-lock/traction control trouble codes

11=Lateral lock valve-No feedback signal from valve to control unit

12=Lateral acceleration sensor short-circuit/break in circuit

13=Lateral acceleration sensor-implausible signal

14=Lateral lock-deviation in regulating values

15=Control unit defective

21=Front left speed sensor

22=Front right speed sensor

23=Rear right speed sensor

24=Rear left speed sensor

31=Front left ABS valve

32=Front right ABS valve

33=Rear axle ABS valve

34=Valve relay

35=Return pump

41=Front-rear differential lock valve

42=Front-rear acceleration sensor short-circuit/break in circuit

43=Longitudinal acceleration sensor-implausible signal

44=Front-rear differential lock control diviations

45=Full differetial locking button

[H00]

;Climate control trouble codes

11=Inside temperature sensor

12=Left mixing chamber temperature sensor

13=Right mixing chamber temperature sensor

14=Evaporator temperature sensor

15=Rear fan temperature sensor

21=Oil cooler temperature sensor

22=Defrost flap motor

23=Footwell flap motor

24=Fresh air flap motor

31=Left mixing flap motor

32=Right mixing flap motor

33=Left heater blower motor

34=Right heater blower motor

41=Condenser blower motor

42=Oil cooler blower motor

43=Rear blower motor speed 1

46=Rear blower motor speed 1

44=Rear blower motor speed 2

47=Rear blower motor speed 2

45=Inside sensor blower motor

I don't know if you are handy but others let me know. maybe I can help you out?

Unknown: I have not had a chance to explore the software. I am sure there is a way to reconfigure it, but that is beyond my programming skills.

Also, the program only really operates when it senses that teh diagnostic cable is attached and the car ign key is on. In other words, You can't just go through the programs pages when not connected to a vehicle.

I have tried to look at the program files but with limited success.

I have a PDF of the operating manual I posted ....

Here is a link to Ross-Tech...lots of import VAG cable adaptors(my cable is similar to the pic)..round connector only has made in china and www.AC3.ca on it and the number 22-310-010-00:

Hi XRAD,

I tried to install the software. But after installing en rebooting the PC just to make sure that MS. net will work out. The Durametric software is asking and asking over and over again for the MS.1.1. net drivers etc.

So after half an hour I finally broke up. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/mad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> I tried also on a second pc as well but got the same result. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/mad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/mad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I won't be able to help you.

Does this suggest that there is a source for the round connector? I've never been able to find one.

There is a source for the round connector...it's in China 'AC3' is the name stamped on it. Don;t know how to get one.

If you have the original disc. it comes with .netfx and 'mdac28'. Open the disc with 'explore' through 'my computer' to see the disc files.

Load the .netfx first, then the mdac28 program

I installed the software on my Dell 2002 laptop with win2000( I have win2000 in the laptop because i used it to tune my Haltech F10x). after loading these programs, and then loading the Durametric program, everything was fine.

I also installed the program to my desktop running XP, asus mb, dual AMD core 5600 and a bunch of other goodies and it worked fine without loading the other two other programs. Of course, the car is not in the house so I have to use the laptop for garage work (much slower)

OK ...did some research

PIWIS diagnostic cable 40$:

http://www.allworldautomotive.com/auto_par...s_ots14988.html

still need a program to control it though...

19 pin round connector:

Must be proprietary to Durametric, but made in China. Maybe Durametric will sell just the round connector????
