These are used carpet sets. No indication of condition - and I certainly wouldn't want to end up with something not even as nice (?) as what I already have. So, I'll wait to see how the new comes out.

I'm interested in a new carpet set. Just got done reading thread. I do have a cab., but I can finish carpet in storage area myself. The rest of the kit should work. Let me know how it turns out.

hmmmm - the storage area is the toughest part - the foam that is formed to the carpet is what holds the shape - i would have done that one myself a long time ago, to lose a few pounds, but have not yet figured out how to do that and still have it fit right

That's why I purchased new trunk carpeting from Sunset. Not cheap - but also almost none of it left in Germany (none in the US, and I think two cashmere pieces in Germany).

When I get the new radiator in I will drop off the car at 928Leathershop and he will fit the carpets. As for the trunk, he plans to use foam 1/2 inch thick or so and 3 stiff plastic panels glued to bottom. Looks like it will work.

Will you take some pics after the installation? Would love to see how well the carpet fits.

I used a German carpet I got from http://www.worlduph.com/. I used the form backing to shape the new carpet and to custom cut the carpet. OME form was glued to new carpet and put back in car.

xrad -

Great thread, I can only see an increasing need for this carpet replacement as the cars get older. Lord knows mine will need it at some point soon. Curious if the shop making yours will keep the measurement templates and could run a set at some point in the future if requested....

They could easily position themselves as the sole 968 aftermarket carpet supplier in the country that way....

Again I wonder if xrad's template (coupe) will work for a cab. Clearly won't work in the storage areas behind the seats of a cab. Would at least the cabin footprint be the same? I've not seen a coupe up close and personal so I have no way to judget this. You multi-968 owners may be able to help.

not so sure of that - all cabs started out as hardtops - the carpet runs all the way under the side panels and boxes, so it might be the same

got a few PM's on this. I don't have an actual cab nearby or we could measure. 928leathershop wants to know, too. Front wells are likely identical. the rest is different...but by how much?

some asked to see the 10,000$ piecs of plywood covering the brains....

arrow points to a previously welded bolt that had pulled out of sheetmetal leaving a hole through which some exhaust fumes used to make their way into the cabin. Sealed with black polyurethane. Dangling cap is for connector access to ECU. HAd the bat out and just had to reset the airbag light.

i am having a hard time thinking of what would be different - they literally dropped the box in over the carpet - maybe the trunk piece?

I have not seen a cab with the box out of it. Would help if anyone had pics of the wheel wells in a cab...with original carpet still in place..

car goes to 928leathershop Sunday.

i think i might have a pic around here - pretty sure i took one before i put the sub in - if not, anchorman probably has one - there were 2 different types of rear seats - one early one late - i forget which is which - i'm almost certain the carpet there is the same as it is on cars with the rear seats that don't cover the entire hump - might not be the same though as it is on cars with the rear seats that cover the hump - i seem to remember that there was carpet missing on those

I would think the "pan" of the whole car is the same.

Only difference would be a rear bulkhead to separate the trunk area.

You would still need a template.

Maybe someone could take their cab trunk carpet out and trace the outline over paper and send it.
